Continue ReadingYesterday we published our top ten performers list from this past weekend at Queens of the Court. Now, we are moving into our superlatives of the best from this weekend. Next up, we have the weekend’s best motors. These lists may include players from our top performers, but will be hard hitting on those not mentioned previously. You can find the five best motors we saw this weekend below.
Ella Larsen — 2021 5’9 W — Play4Him White / Newell-Fonda HS
Larsen is starting to solidify herself as such a solid do-it-all player. She is a such a hard worker on the floor and is always communicating and making things happen. Larsen is very versatile as well allowing her to play on the interior and out on the perimeter. She is a very well built player who is capable of doing a ton of different things. She is always in “go mode” and that never changes.
Payton McHone — 2020 5’7 F — Iowa Prep Black 2020 / Jesup HS
McHone has always struck me as someone that works hard. In fact, so far this summer I have never seen her not be one of the hardest working players on the floor. In addition to her hard work, McHone never stops doing it. Whether it is her diving on the floor for a loose ball or running the floor in transition, you can always count on her to do it. She’s very coachable and will do anything asked of her.
Grace Flanagan — 2020 5’8 W — Iowa Prep Red 2020 / North Linn HS
Flanagan played really well this past weekend but stayed just a bit under-the-radar. She doesn’t do anything fancy and just gets the job done. She’ll always provide scoring but will also pitch in some rebounds and assists. Flanagan goes about her business in a way that will really catch people off guard. Always moving and thinking ahead, not many kids are going to outwork her on the floor.
Maeve Botos — 2021 5’8 PG — OSA Crusader Regional 2021 / Elk Horn South HS
Botos is a thin lead guard whose game is predicated on running the offense. She’s a really solid ball-handler who has the ability to change the game by just having the balls in her hands. This past weekend I was really impressed with the speed of her game. Botos looked to outwork every player on the floor and especially the other guards. It doesn’t seem like she ever gets tired on the floor.
Reese Cooley — 2023 5’7 G — CY Select Alpha 2023
Cooley is an unknown around the state since she is just an 8th grader, but soon she will be on the map. I really like her ability to control the game on both sides of the ball and she just never quits moving. Always doing something to impact the game, Cooley is a great piece for this CY Select team. She is going to be a player who really sets the stage on both sides of the ball with how hard she works.
