Continue ReadingEarlier this week, we published our top ten performers list from this past weekend at Queens of the Court. Now, we are moving into our superlatives of the best from this weekend. Next up, we have the weekend’s breakout performers. These lists may include players from our top performers, but will be hard hitting on those not mentioned previously. You can find the five breakout performances we saw this weekend below.
Ellie Foster — 2020 5’10 PG — Iowa Prep Red 2020 / Dike New-Hartford HS (Green Bay)
While Foster didn’t really “breakout”, this was by far the best I have seen her play. She’s a dynamic lead guard who can take the ball off the bounce or knock down a shot in your face. Her court vision was great all weekend long and she passed teammates open. I love how she plays the game and is just so smooth with the ball. Foster is a girl who is already committed and I think her best basketball is ahead of her.
Molly Hoekstra — 2020 5’10 W/F — Kingdom Hoops 2020 / Carlisle HS
Hoekstra is a really fluid wing who can slide down to the forward if needed. I really think that she is going to be a really good player at the next level and a player who is going to turn heads this summer. In the championship game she was scoring well at all three levels. Hoekstra was knocking down jumpers and running to the rim really well. A player to watch in this class. Tons of versatility.
Blayne Ingram — 2022 5’9 W — Lady Pure Prep Gold 2020 / Des Moines Christian HS
Ingram is a name not a lot of people know. She’s supremely athletic and you can just kind of tell she is built really well. I think the skill is just a touch behind the athleticism right now but she’s going to be really good when that catches up. I really enjoyed watching her play and how she moved. Ingram should become a solid basketball player over the next few years.
JeMae Nichols — 2021 5’9 F — Iowa Dream 2021 / Cherokee HS
Nichols is one of the most athletic kids in the state. I would love to see an expansion of her offensive game, but right now she is just so solid inside. Nichols has the ability to grab the rebound and push the ball up the floor. Solid passing ability and she has a good feel for the game. Nichols has a load of potential and I think she’s soon going to have a lot of schools calling her.
Lauren Kohl — 2022 5’7 PG – OSA Crusader Regional 2021 / Elk Horn South HS
Kohl was a player who I hadn’t seen before as she is out of state. I liked her fluidness and aggression with the ball on the floor. Solid shooter who can get shots off without much space. Kohl is a player who had a good weekend each day and should be able to find herself making an impact on both ends of the floor at the next level. Really good touch around the rim makes her a valuable asset.
