While the tournament wrapped up on Sunday and there weren’t as many opportunities to see teams play, I still saw a ton of talented players. Here are a few underclassmen that stood out:
Grace Hall – A 6’2’’ 2021 PF from Homewood Flossmoor, Hall is a force in the paint. Her strength, to go along with her height and athleticism, make her a match up nightmare. In addition to the savvy post-game, she can also handle the ball well and step outside and knock down threes.
Miyah Brown – The 2022 5’11’’ SG from Winnebago was making plays all over the place on Sunday. Brown is a strong player that takes advantage of smaller defenders in the lane and is quick enough to drive by taller opponents. Non-stop motor and just a natural scorer.
Janae Kent – The 6’0’’ 2023 Guard can play the 1-3 spots terrifically and post up smaller defenders down low. Great athlete with superb ball handling skills. Very confident shooter with consistently smooth shot from outside.
Andie Will – Will is a 2022 PG from Prospect High School who is very skilled on the offensive side. Her length and strength at 5’9’’ allow her to fight through contact in the lane and finish strong at the basket. Also very nice mid-range and long-range jump shot.
Sophie Swanson – The 2023 Combo Guard is lights out from beyond the arc. Swanson, at 5’8’’, has a beautiful high arching shot with a quick release and deep range. Also can handle the ball well and guard multiple position on the defensive end.
