While the tournament wrapped up on Sunday and there weren’t as many opportunities to see teams play, I still saw a ton of talented players. Here are a few upperclassmen that stood out:
Halle Douglass – One of the top players in the 2020 class, Douglass is as well-rounded as it gets. The 6’2’’ Guard from Lake Forest can play any position on the court well. Douglass can handle and shoot it well, but what stood out the most for me this weekend was her defense. Her quickness and size allow her to guard anyone and she showed that she can be elite at any spot on the court.
Emily Klaczek – A 5’10” 2020 PG from Fremd, Klaczek continues to impress on how solid she is all around. She is a strong ball handler that can win her 1-on-1 battles and take on contact at the basket. Also possess a nice shot from outside and good on-ball defense.
Halle Idowu – An all-around talent from Richards High School, Idowu really showed that she can do it all. The 2020 5’11” Small Forward can shoot it well from deep but is also very solid in the lane. Idowu is strong and has a great feel for where her opponents are to set herself up for easy looks at the basket.
Trinity Duckworth – As quick of a ball handler as you will see, Duckworth is a ton of fun to watch. The 5’5’’ 2020 PG from Hillcrest can get around defenders with ease and make things happen in the lane. She is a strong and crafty finisher around the hoop and absorbs contact well. Plus shooter. Elite on-ball defender.
Imani Williams – A crafty lefty from Kankakee High School, Williams is smooth with the ball and extremely athletic. The 2020 Guard/Forward can step outside and hit shots but gets most of her work done cleaning up boards and hitting runners in the lane. At 5’9’’, Williams can hold her own against multiple positions on defense.
Addie Budnik – At 6’1”, Budnik is listed as a PF, but can easily step into a Guard role and have success. The 2020 from Highland Park High School has a great shot from three and can also use her size to mix it up in the paint. Also can guard multiple positions on defense.
