I analyze many characteristics in a player shot which determine how well they shoot along with the consistency of making the basket. Some characteristics that I watch for include readiness to shoot, proper footwork for the shot, how fluid the shot is based off of form, the spin on the ball, speed of the shot, quickness in the release, etc. Here’s a non-inclusive list of some top shooters from the first live weekend in Texas.
TOP SHOOTERS
#7 Kaliee Choice, Junior, 5’4, Guard, Tulsa Union, OK Federal Ballerz Platinum
Good form on the shot. Normal release but love the arc on the ball. Defenders best interest to have a hand up anytime she has the ball. Her shot speed is quicky enough that if defenders don’t keep hands up, it’s a shot!
#5 Allyson Kennedy, Junior, 5’6, Guard, Classen SAS, OKC Lions Elite
One of the fastest releases from any girl basketball player in Oklahoma. Always square to the basket before shooting and quick footwork which aids in her quick release. Great spin on the ball with plenty of arc on the shot.
#3 Jordan Bloomfield, Junior, 5’8, Guard, Fletcher HS, Team Oklahoma
Always looking to shoot the 3 on the catch or when the defense is asleep. I can tell due to her footwork while dribbling and her eyes stay on the rim for her to shoot the ball. I love her readiness to shoot.
