Here are just a few that I saw from the one facility, the one day I was there:
Point Guards
Dariyana Wright, 2020, Cincinnati Lady Tigers- was impressed with her extreme athletic ability and natural quickness she used to get an advantage over her opponent. She was excellent in pushing the ball in transition, and on the fast break, she sees the floor well. One aspect for a good point guard are handles, and she has very strong handles, while playing under control. Uses her speed to get past her defender and scores at the rim.
Mackenzie Amalia, 2020, Drill For Skill Miller- she is headed to play her college basketball at Robert Morris and for good reason. She was one of the most talented point guards in the building, and can do it all on the court. Handles the ball against pressure, runs the show and finds the open player. Can score from the perimeter, and even with her small stature, can get to the rim. Fiery sparkplug.
Piper Macke Piper Macke 5'6" | CG Highlands | 2020 State KY , 2020, Kentucky Royals- impressive floor leader who handles the ball with both hands and runs the offense. Good range, and moves without the ball. Works hard on defense, reacts and makes things happen. Not afraid to get to the rim to score. Solid work ethic.
Amya Harris Amya Harris 5'5" | CG Worthington Kilboourne | 2021 OH , 2021, Ohio Lady Hoopstars Elite 20/21- strong physical guard, she can mix it up in a physical game and will be productive. Solid defender and is quick on both offense and defense. Slasher to the rim, or will hit the perimeter shot. Will run the floor well in transition.
Lauren Scott, 2022, Ohio Sports Plus Flames- caught my eye with her aggressiveness on the court, and when I saw her, she was really aggressive to the ball. Nice perimeter shot, and when she makes a mistake, she gets back to try to atone for it. Works to get open, and only going to be a sophomore so there is plenty of time to fine tune her game.
Shyanne Sellers Shyanne Sellers 6'0" | SG Aurora | 2021 State #41 Nation OH , 2021, SMAC Lady Ballers- this kid is special. It didn’t take me long to see that she was as good as advertised. Plus, the congestion of the D1 college coaches seemed to be around Sports City U and this kid. Shyanne can do it all, and play anywhere on the floor. So smooth, controlls the game with great handles. Strong rebounder and gets to the rim. Solid footwork around the rim and a shot blocker.
Jai Duval, 2020, SMAC Takeover- really liked this long taller athletic guard who was a good player from the perimeter, with long range ability. Has the ability to push the ball in uptempo style when the opportunity was there.
Chance Gray Chance Gray 5'9" | PG Winton Woods | 2022 State #40 Nation OH , 5-9, Sports City U- this was the first time I had the chance to see her play with this much talent, and even though she was the youngest kid on the floor, she is already so good. Outstanding athlete, smart basketball IQ, runs the floor, and finds the best shot. No ceiling for this kid.
Kaitlyn McCrary, 5-3, We Got Next 2020- vastly improved since I saw her last, Strong physical guard not afraid to mix it up. Not afraid of contact at the rim. Aggressive and can score from both inside and out. Active hands causes defelctions and an overall solid defender. Excellent passer.
Cassidy Dupps, 5-7, Ohio Quest- can play both point and off guard. Her defensive pressure and intensity creates opportunities in transition and disrupts the opponents flow. Hustle and effort visible on the defensive and offensive end of the floor. Looks to get her teammates involved with passion and court vision.
