CSUN Womens HC Jason Flowers teaching at his Elite Camp.Jason Flowers, the Head Womens Basketball Coach at California State University Northridge (CSUN) is hosting an Elite Camp to kids to identify a few recruits that he will need in the 2020, 2021 and 2022 classes. This morning, June 21, 2019 he started with session #1 from 9am to 12pm in the Student Recreation Center on the campus, located on the 2nd floor of the nicely built building. He greeted the kids and then introduced them to the assistant coaches and then he went straight into his warmups and exercises. He is a really detailed coach and he explained all of the drill to the kids, so that they would understand what he wanted from them. He proved to me this weekend that he is a really good teacher of the game, he would stop the kids and say “Teaching Moment”, and then he would go over what he was trying to make the kids see in the drills. I really enjoyed watching him work with the girls and also liked watching him and his staff teach today. I would like to thank Jason and his Staff for being so hospitable to me and we will continue to attend his events in the future and also send him kids for his programs.
Introductions and Instructions for Session #2The second session started the same as the first, Coach Flowers started the introduction and instruction to warmup and stretch the kids out, then proceeded to get the kids going in the drills. They went over offensive attack moves to be able to learn how attack your opponent. Shooting drills to see if they could knock down an open shot in the 5 different spots on the court. He also did some knock-out drills, so that they could see if you knew how to defend one-on-one. All of the drills he used during the day, he made sure they could be translated to the game when they scrimmaged. Again, we enjoyed watching him teach and the kids did not seem to be confused, because he explained the drill very clearly. Great job Coach Flowers, we will continue to support your events with our kids.
