As summer ball is now in full swing, Prep Girls Hoops Kansas takes a look at some of the state’s top players on the rise in a variety of positions.
Below are some of the state’s players to keep your eyes on in the 2021 class.
Alli Puetz, 5’8, G, 2021, Garden Plains
a smart player who brings speed and quickness to the floor. She can handle the ball son and is good at scoring when she needs to. She’s a pass-first player who plays strong defense in his a solid rebounder as well. She fights for position and has a nose for the ball.
Amiah Simmons, 5’7, G, 2021, Blue Valley Southwest
An excellent guard on the rise who has a solid frame and elite speed. She is great at picking off passes and finishing on the other end. She has exceptional handles and is good at facilitating and getting to the mid-range or inside to score. She can shoot from distance but prefers high-percentage shots close to the basket.
Becca Hammersmith, 5’7, G, 2021, Hutchinson Trinity
A player with good off-ball movement who can find openings by staying active. She has strong athleticism and bring strength and a high basketball IQ. She’s a good passer and good at setting screens and handling the ball through traffic. a multiple-sport athlete who is highly competitive.
Grace Eck, 5’4, G, 2021, Ellis
a smart guard with the ball who can create plays for herself at a high level. She has a solid shot from a distance and can get by opponents and get to the basket well. She gets to the free-throw line a lot and knows how to capitalize there as well. An all-around scoring threat who always finds a way to get her shot off. Also a strong defender as well.
Wakiyan Irving, 5’4, G, 2021, Royal Valley
Irving may not be the tallest guard, but she works hard and pushes herself well. She can handle the ball some and can shoot from distance when she has an open look and is feeling confident. She plays strong defense and can come away with steals at she has good footwork and quick hands.
