Programs from Alaska, Montana, Washington and Idaho attended the last leg of team camps put on by Gonzaga and it brought together a spread of talent. In a well-organized camp, it was easy to spot some of the top college prospects. In part 1: we featured a half dozen Division 1 prospects. Part 2 will be a mixture of high major Division 1 on down to smaller college prospects.
Top prospects- Part 2:
2021 5’11 F Madison Rubino (Glacier Peak HS) – Prospect that has slowly, but surely gotten better in the last couple years. She has decent length and a pretty strong frame. Madison works hard and shows some promise at the right level for college.
2021 5’8 G Maya Erling (Glacier Peak HS) – Nice feel for the game and sneaky hang time in the air. Maya really impressed at the WIAA State Tourney and she has continued to improve her decision making and all around game. She will be able to help some college program out due to her feel for the game and offensive skill set.
2021 5’5 G Malia Smith (Glacier Peak HS) – Smaller guard, but she can really shoot the ball and has gotten better over time. Her defense as a small guard appears to be improving and she has really benefited from Glacier Peak’s scrappy style of defense.
2021 5’5 G Aalliyah Collins (Glacier Peak HS) – Another small guard, but Collins is scrappy and quick. She is best in the uptempo setting where she can use her foot speed to make plays. The talk around the gym was what does her jump shot look like, as everything was to the rim. It will take some further evaluation on this aspect of her game, but she has some time to develop her jump shot to help keep the defense honest in half court settings.
2020 5’7 PG Hailey Van Lith (Cashmere HS) – The most highly touted prospect in the event scored in the 25-35 range every game as she has done for 3 years for Cashmere. Hailey scored the majority of her baskets in the paint consistently attacking the defense and getting to her strong left hand. The 5-star prospect has yet to make a college decision, but Louisville, Baylor and UCONN are all in play.
2021 5’8 G Delaney Pink (Chiawana HS) – Quick and scrappy guard that made plays out in transition with her foot speed. She also has quick hands to get into the passing lanes and get deflections. She has the interest of multiple mid-major D1 programs.
2020 6’3 PF Bailey King (Billings Senior HS) – Long and agile forward prospect that runs the floor well and uses her length to disrupt on defense. Bailey is raw on the offensive end, but the potential is there. Montana always seems to have hidden gems and schools at the D2, D3 or NAIA level could really benefit from a player like Bailey as the best basketball is ahead of her. Her high school coach also mentioned she has a 4.2 GPA.
2022 5’6 G Aniyah Heavens (Pasco HS) – Savvy guard that controlled the game on the offensive end for her team. She is a solid passer that can slice the ball through the defense well. Aniyah is also an above average shooter to keep the defense honest. She has a solid frame and can absorb contact well.
2022 5’7 SG Mya Groce (Pasco HS) – Slender off guard that showed a nice offensive skill set. She can hit from the mid range and she makes her free throws effortlessly. Mya’s stock will continue to rise as one of of the better players in the Tri-Cities area.
