Throughout the week we will be posting evaluations of 20 players by class (as voted on by Instagram followers) each day culminating with 10 evaluations of 2023s on Friday. This is a look at 10 more players in the 2021 class who I either thought played really well or I haven’t talked much about yet this summer. You can see all of the coverage from this weekend previously posted below.
Maddie Portwine — 5’11 SG/SF — Nebraska Attack UAA 2021 / York HS (NE)
Portwine is a very fun guard to watch with how smooth she is with the ball. Probably will be an off ball guard or a wing at the next level with her size, but she can shoot the ball really well. Has a lot of length within her frame and can really get after it on defense because of her frame. Really good player who has a ton of potential at the next level in the right system fit.
Magda McGowan — 5’6 PG — Kingdom Hoops 2021 / Southeast Polk HS (IA)
McGowan is one of the hardest workers in the state and has one of the best motors that I saw this weekend. She really reminds me of Rose Nkumu (Iowa City HS / Marquette commit) with how she plays. Really good passing ability and good court vision. Isn’t going to come out and score a ton but is going to be really solid all the way around.
Maggie Wilkins — 5’5 PG — Kingdom Hoops 2021 / Knoxville HS (IA)
Wilkins is a really quick lead guard who has range extending way beyond the arc. I thought that she was really good constantly pressuring the ball on defense and then on offense dictate the pace of the game. Good ball handler and has a lot of potential within her game. Wilkins is a player who is going to be someone to watch next year for Knoxville.
Molly Ihle — 5’4 PG — All Iowa Attack Nike Carpenter 2021 / Ballard HS (IA)
Ihle is one of the hardest working players in the state. She is a very good rebounder from the guard position and is able to grab those rebounds and push the ball up the floor. Ihle has really good decision making and is a very good passer who passes her teammates open. She’s such a treat to watch and her game can be compared to Katie Dinnebier of Waukee.
Moriah Prewitt — 5’9 SG/PG — Kingdom Hoops 2021 / Des Moines Christian HS (IA)
Prewitt continues to impress me this summer as she continues to get better. Starting to become a solid ball handler who can stay on the ball at the next level. She is a really good shooter who can rip off shot after shot on the perimeter. She’s got a great motor and is always competing on the floor. Prewitt should have a really good next two years at Des Moines Christian.
Mullk Hammadelneil — 5’6 PG/SG — Air Minnesota 2021 / Rochester Mayo HS (MN)
Hammadelneil was really impressive this past weekend. She is a quick guard with a bit of skill to her game. She was flying all over the floor the entire game and is a very good defender. Solid ball handler who can use both hands to get to the rim. I was really impressed with her ability to pass the ball and create opportunities for her teammates.
Natalie Kahre — 5’7 PF/SF — All Iowa Attack National 2021 / Johnston HS (IA)
Kahre is a player who I really enjoy watching. She’s a player who plays hard all the time and has a lot of skill down low. Kahre is athletic enough to be able to swing out to the perimeter at time and I think that she’s going to really be a key player for Johnston next season. She has shown a lot of development over the past few months and is a player who should be a solid contributor next season.
Peyton Kelderman — 5’7 SG — All Iowa Attack Nike Mauro 2021 / Waukee HS (IA)
Kelderman is a small guard who has a knack for scoring the ball. She was on fire early in the game that I saw and was scoring in a multitude of ways. Kelderman was getting to the rim but she was also nailing the deep ball. Really good motor shone this weekend and I think she’s going to turn into an impact type player at Waukee this next year.
Riley Wright — 5’11 SF — All Iowa Attack EYBL 2021 / Marion HS (IA)
Wright has improved a lot from the high school season to now. She is finishing at the rim with ease and has started to shoot the ball really well. She’s a great on-ball defender with her length and can make plays happen on both ends of the floor. Love the aggression that she has been showing this summer so far and her stock is getting ready to take off.
Rylie Kruse — 5’10 SF — All Iowa Attack EYBL 2021 / Southeast Polk HS (IA)
Kruse is a kid who shot the ball really well this past weekend. Loved her aggression while she was looking to score the ball. Kruse has gotten a lot better this spring and has started to be a bit more aggressive on the drive to the basket. Kruse is getting better defensively as well and is starting to become more of a complete player for this team.
