Continue ReadingKamiakin High School had quite the run over the last few years with a handful of players that were impactful at the varsity level for four years. With Oumou Toure, Alexa Hazel, Symone Brown and company all graduating, a lot of people are expecting Kamiakin to take some time to rebuild. That may very well be the case, but one player that should help with the process is rising junior point guard, Regan Clark.
I have seen Regan at the high school level multiple times and with her Sagebrush club team, but watching her as the leader of an extremely young Kamiakin team at EWU Team Camp gave me the best opportunity to see what she is made of. Regan is crafty player that is best in the uptempo game due to her shiftiness with the ball in her hands and quickness on the defensive end. Kamiakin is known for its trapping style defense and she has benefited from playing that aggressive style over the last couple years. Regan mentioned her pull up jumper as one of the strong points of her game and I caught a glimpse of that this weekend. She goes from full speed attacking down hill to a quick stop and pop from 10-15 feet. While Regan does not have elite level size or length, she is a hard working ball player with a solid foundation in her skill set.
As far as recruitment, Regan made it a point that staying in the northwest is very important to her when deciding on a college. “As long as I stay in the Northwest I’ll be happy, as far as college. Academics are very important so anywhere that I can get a good education, while also playing ball would be great!” Regan has some time to work on her game before deciding on a college destination, but she is one of the rare players that truly places an emphasis on education and is not necessarily stuck on play D1 ball like most underclassmen. In the meantime, Regan is focused on being a vocal leader and being more of a leader on the team.
Regan will be at the following events this summer:
July 10-12 – NW Aftershock – Seattle, WA
July 20-22 – EOT Ultimate Challenge – Rocklin, CA
July 23-26 – Summer Swoosh – Orange County, CA
