Continue ReadingWith the June AAU period in the books, I am going to start pushing out (finally) our coverage from Summer Jam in Minnesota from June 14-16. Instead of the typical evaluation lists I am going to attempt something that I have never done before on either the boys or girls side. Below, I will be listing each 2020 team from Iowa that I saw at Summer Jam, along with their roster *that was present for the game I saw*. Therefore, these aren’t complete rosters but rather just who played in the game that I watched. For example, MN Rise Martin had six kids on one day against Beyond Ball 24K but I noticed on the next day they had their full lineup — I would only include on their roster the six players that I saw.
I will list notes on five players from each team that I haven’t talked about much this summer. If that isn’t possible, I will just talk about the five players who I thought played the best during the weekend (see All Iowa Attack EYBL). The rosters are not in any particular order except with the committed players listed first.
Lady Pure Prep did not submit a roster so the players included might be a little off since I was going off my roster from April.

All Iowa Attack EYBL went home champions of Summer Jam after taking down Nebraska Attack UAA in the finals on Sunday. They are still adjusting to playing without Caitlin Clark who is off to playing USA basketball and in this tournament they played like they haven’t missed a beat. Maya McDermott played fantastically and I thought that she was the best performer of the entire weekend. She was knocking down shots from the perimeter, setting up the offense, and playing in your face defense. She’s such a skilled player who plays with a chip on her shoulder. She has to be good with the ball in her hands for All Iowa Attack to win game after game, and this weekend we saw the best version of her. Kayba Laube was her usual self this weekend as she was draining shots from the perimeter and showcasing her ability as one of the top shooters in the state. When Laube gets in a groove, she isn’t going to miss and that’s what we saw at times in the championship game. Her defense has also came a long way from the high school season as she is starting to become a better on-ball defender. Laube has always been a good defender, but she has certainly taken a step forward this summer in that aspect. Grace Larkins continues to be a criminally under recruited player in Iowa. She just knows how to win and how to play well with her teammates. Larkins is not a “me” player and I think that has kind of hurt her stock a little bit. Playing with Iowa State commit Maggie McGraw, and now on a team of committed talent, Larkins game has not been in the spotlight. But I am telling you, she is the top player in Iowa’s 2021 class. She handles the ball well, can get to the rim, and is starting to show more of a consistent perimeter shot. She has really started to turn it on recently and showcase her ability on both ends of the floor. A good defender and a player who works as hard as anyone, I have no doubt she’ll end up at a very good DI school and that coaching staff will be very, very happy. Shateah Wetering is another player on this roster that has caught my attention this summer. I knew she was very good but she has really blown me away this summer. Wetering is a strong wing who gets to the rim really well and is always one of the most athletic players on the floor. She plays with a great deal of aggression at all times and has shown me that she is willing to do all of the little things in order to help her team win. The slick lefty is going to end up being a huge steal for Iowa and with the talent they have coming in with her class, she should be able to fit right in. Kylie Feuerbach is in the same boat as Wetering. She has played really well as the lone out of state player on this team. An Iowa State commit, Feuerbach is going to be a stud once she is able to focus solely on basketball. A volleyball and track star as well, Feuerbach’s best sport is obviously basketball and once she commits fully to it she is going to be a player opponents game plan against at the Big 12 level. She’s super athletic, wiry strong, plays the game hard, and knows when to pick her spots well. With all of the talent on this roster, this is a group that has a good chance to repeat at Nike Nationals in a few weeks.

Kallyn Stumbo | 2020 | 5’8 | PG | Okoboji | Indiana State |
Jordan Cunningham | 2020 | 5’10 | SF | Dallas Center Grimes
Anna Deets | 2020 | 5’8 | SG | Mason City
Grace Gaber | 2020 | 5’10 | PF / SF | Dowling Catholic

Anna Gladstone | 2020 | 5’7 | SG | Worth County R-III (MO)
Molly Ihle | 2021 | 5’4 | PG | Ballard |
After the EYBL team, this is the next team in line for the All Iowa Attack program. A very solid balance of players makes them tough to beat and they performed well at Summer Jam. Anna Gladstone is someone who I didn’t like very much honestly early in the year but now I absolutely love her game. She’s a supremely athletic guard who is tough as nails. She has shown me the ability to get to the basket and score but also to shoot the ball from the perimeter. Her game is continuously growing and her potential is limitless. Anna Deets has come onto the scene this year as a knock down shooter. She’s not afraid of contact getting to the rim but also has no problem with stepping out and knocking down shots. I love the aggression that she has been showing in her game and I think that she has the ability to take over games and will start showing that even more soon. Deets is a very solid player who is going to have a big year this upcoming season. Grace Gaber is a knock down shooter just like Deets. They play two different positions on the floor but both have a great knack for shooting the ball. Gaber has really improved her mobility this summer and I think has the potential to either play on the wing or in the post. I love her willingness to make things happen on both ends of the floor and she is going to be a sought after prospect due to her versatility. Kallyn Stumbo is a recent commit to Indiana State but is still playing as hard as she ever has. She has great floor awareness and sets up her teammates really well. Stumbo was getting to the rim and finishing through contact really well and I think that this was the best that I have seen her all season long. Very fluid athlete who is in attack mode at all times and showed that once again during Summer Jam. Molly Ihle has long been one of my favorite players to watch throughout the state. She won’t blow you away but she will play really solid defense, won’t make mistakes, and she is going to be a player who rebounds the ball well from the guard position. A tough competitor, Ihle is always mixing it up on the inside fighting for loose balls. A college is really going to love the fight that she shows and the willingness to put her body on the line for her team.

Beyond Ball 24K had a little bit of a rough go this weekend en route to a 7th place finish in the loser’s bracket but they did turn in some very good individual performances. There are some super intriguing players in this group that are going to be very good if they hit their potential starting with Grace Plummer. Plummer is a tall, solidly built guard with the strength and quickness to play both the guard and wing positions. With Nead and Keitges, I think that Plummer is a little bit overlooked but that should soon change. She has the ability to shoot the ball from the perimeter as well and get to the rim and finish. Her length helps her as a defender and she has the mobility to keep anyone in front of her. I really think she’ll get a couple of low major offers before it is all said and done. Margaret Hall is going to be a pertinent piece this upcoming high school season for Valley and is going to be one of the players who have the ball in her hands a lot. If she plays anything like she did at Summer Jam, Valley will be in good hands. She’s a quick and shifty guard who has the ability to handle the ball very well. She’s a good decision maker and is a smart defender. Cheyenne Shaw might not be having her best AAU season from what I have seen, but there is still a ton of talent within her game. Athletic two-guard who can change direction easily and score the ball at all three levels. She’s a very good scorer at the high school level and I have seen that in flashes this summer. Shaw loves the game, plays with a top notch motor, and is starting to refine her skills even more. She’s going to have a breakout year in high school hoping to get back to Wells Fargo. Jorja Hanselman has been improving all summer long. She has a little bit of skill to her game, although still refining it. She moves well without the ball, gets herself into good spots on the floor, and is a vocal leader on the floor. You can always count on her to be cheering and coaching her team from the sideline when she’s not in the game. Hanselman has transformed herself into more of a skilled post player this summer after being very raw as we started the season. The last player that I haven’t talked about much this year has been Anna Bernhard. The post player has started to garner a lot more mobility and versatility this summer and I think that she is going to end up being a very nice player on the wing or in the four spot when it is all over with. She’s a very efficient scorer on the inside, and can stretch it out to the perimeter. Bernhard is a player who isn’t really on the radar for most, but that is going to change this coming year for Valley as she will get an extended shot to shine.

Presley Case | 2020 | 5’4 | PG | North Scott |
This is a group that fell in a very close game to begin their weekend with a close loss to Minnesota Fury UAA. Had they won that game it would have been a monumental upset, especially with how they led nearly the entire game. Emerson Green was once again spectacular, which is usually what you’re going to get with her. Green was going shot for shot with the Fury UAA team and was really setting the scene for a great ending. She also went toe to toe with Paige Beuckers later in the weekend, a game that I failed to see but definitely heard about. Green is player who you can count on to score the ball at a very high level and at all three levels. She’s going to be a very good player at Northern Iowa. Just as dominant at Summer Jam was Sharon Goodman. Goodman is a strong post player with great body control and the ability to score at the rim with ease. She was fighting off double teams all day long and still scoring the ball at the rim. Goodman is a strong rebounder with the ability to clean up the offensive glass and put it right back up for a score. She runs the floor well in transition and looks for the ball. A true center who is always working to get the ball. Presley Case is her usual self commanding the show from the lead guard spot. She’s a very good ball handler who holds the ability to get to the basket and score. She was very good under pressure this past weekend and is a true lead guard with the smarts to run a team. Case is going to be a really solid player at the next level for a team that utilizes her skillset correctly. Molly Chmelicek is a player who has gotten a touch quicker this summer and is starting to mold herself into a player that can be counted on to score the ball at a very high level. She’s a high energy scorer and has a good feel for the game. Chmelicek is one of those players who just has a great overall feel for the game. Her ceiling isn’t close to where she is right now and I think that she is going to continue to get better and better. Kassidi Steel has become a very pertinent piece to this lineup and she played very well over the entire weekend. She is a strong forward who can bounce back and forth between both forward positions on the floor. I thought that she played really hard this past weekend and was a player who really stood out with her motor.

2020 | Molly Lutmer | 5’7 | SG / PG | Perry
2020 | Karisma Wright | 6’ | PF / SF | Roosevelt
2021 | Kendall Clatt | 5’10 | SG | Indianola
2021 | Kiersten Baker | 5’11 | SG / SF | Urbandale
2021 | Casi Waterhouse | 5’9 | SF / SG | Bondurant-Farrar
2022 | Lauren Blake | 5’11 | SF | Indianola
2022 | Blayne Ingram | 5’9 | SF | Des Moines Christian
2022 | Emma Witzenberg | 5’8 | SG | Pella Christian |
This was my second time seeing Lady Pure Prep (and as mentioned above, this roster might not be accurate because they did not provide one), and they played very well once again. Kendall Clatt continues to climb my radar as a very skilled guard. She’s a lefty who can both get to the rim and shoot the ball from the outside, She has a strong base allowing her to switch done into the post from time to time as well. Clatt is a very smart player who uses her basketball IQ to score the ball against quicker defenders. She doesn’t need much room to get her shot off. Molly Lutmer was knocking down shots with ease in this Saturday night contest. Lutmer is a strong and well built shooting guard who has hit a new gear this summer scoring the ball. She’s not a player that needs much help to create her shot and her creating ability was on full display as she was consistently getting good looks at the basket. Lauren Blake was a player who didn’t really stand out to me earlier this season, but this past weekend I thought that she was one of the more consistent scorers that I saw. I love her ability to get to the rim as well as knock down the mid-range jumper. One of the most athletic kids in the 2022 class, Blake has a high ceiling once her skill starts to match her athleticism. Kiersten Baker has made a marked improvement this summer season. She now looks stronger and more confident with the ball in her hands and is starting to show a little more aggression in trying to score. Baker is a crafty guard who has the size to move down to the three spot on the floor or even the post. A strong and smart player, Baker’s best days are still ahead of her. She is a player that could have a really good year at Urbandale. Karisma Wright has also really caught my attention this spring as a very solid post on the inside. She’s starting to find her groove and play a bit more consistently. She is a fluid and athletic post player who rebounds the ball well and can score around the rim. She has a big year in store at Roosevelt for her senior year. I have really started to enjoy her game more and more with how hard she plays and the smarts that she shows around the basket.
Team Iowa

2020 | Mallory McDermott | 5’7 | SG / PG | Prairie | Western Illinois |
2020 | Adrianna Katcher | 5’11 | SF / SG | Center Point-Urbana | Southern Illinois |
2020 | Caitlynn Daniels | 5’7 | PG | Xavier | Alabama-Birmingham |
2020 | Libby Arnold | 5’9 | SF | Xavier
2020 | Sadie Powell | 5’10 | PF | Cedar Rapids Kennedy
2020 | Camry Dillie | 5’6 | SG | Davenport North

2020 | Sydney Happell | 6’ | PF | North Scott
2020 | Olivia Donlea | 5’6 | SG | East Buchanan |
This is a very good team and they have a lot of potential for the next level as they already have three players committed to play D1 basketball. Adrianna Katcher might end up being the best of the bunch as she is a supremely versatile player. I don’t think that she really even has a position on the floor besides a point-forward role. Katcher handles the ball well, can shoot it from the outside, and can score very well on the inside. She’s a very quick player who can take you off guard with her ability to get to the rim. Very good looking shot and I think that she is going to end up as one of the better college players in the 2020 class. Libby Arnold has gotten a lot stronger this summer and has really started to flourish in her role on the wing. She’s a very smart player who holds the ability to get to the rim at will but also shoot from the outside. She was a little thin over the winter but since then she has gotten a lot stronger and has really come into her own. Arnold’s added strength has complimented her game really well in every aspect and is going to continue growing. Cassidy Pagel has continuously showed us this summer that she’s a mobile post with the ability to get the ball in the basket. She has good touch around the rim and uses her body to her advantage as she backs players down in the post. Pagel has a good feel for the game and is an excellent post passer. A very steady player that just simply gets things done on the floor. Caitlynn Daniels played a very good game when I saw her. As a dynamic athlete and good ball-handler Daniels does a very good job of setting up the offense for this team. She is a very good perimeter player who knows when to pass the ball and knows when to keep the ball. She is a UAB commit and is going to be a very solid player for them as she fits well in their offense. Xavier should once again be one of the top teams their class and Daniels is going to be a big part of their success. Sydney Happell is a player who is overshadowed a little on the North Scott team but is a very solid player in her own right. A player who can really get to the rim off the bounce or score in the mid-range. Happell is a good rebounder who has a little bounce to her game. She plays really well in transition and when she can show off her athleticism a little.
