When North Tartan’s top 2020 team – one of the most successful AAU units in recent memory – split up last fall, it didn’t take a genius to figure out that there were going to be some high-level playing opportunities open up for athletes who might not have otherwise had the chance to play on the biggest stages against the best opponents. One of those players was Burnsville point guard Zhane Thompson, who seized her opportunity and earned a roster spot with North Tartan’s new-look EYBL squad.

Not only did she make the roster but Thompson’s play has been a revelation. That’s why she has now broken into the top 10 of the Prep Girls Hoops Class of 2020 rankings for the first time, rising from #14 to #9. “Her toughness has surprised us. Her ability to defend the ball has been fantastic,” said North Tartan coach Gerard Coury, “and she has been a great teammate.”
