Coach Trina Merriweather and her staff put together several hours of skill work and evaluation opportunities for the players involved.
Several of the players stood out to me:
Kendall Hale (2021)- what a complete player, and her game is growing each year. Did a great job moving without the ball and showed a lot of athleticism throughout the day.
Abby Holtman (2023)- this Kentucky product will only be a freshman Ryle High School, but is already showing promise reminding me of their current senior guard headed to Oregon, Maddie Scherr. Abby has a way to get to that level, but she showed a lot of skill for such a young player. Long athletic kid who can play anywhere on the floor.
Lauryn Stover (2022)- this post player was very active when she was on the floor. Can defend block to block, and is a difference maker in the paint. Her game improved as the day progressed.
Jazzpher Evans (2020)- lightning quick point guard who made things happen. Excellent first step to get to the rim, exploded past everyone. Athletic and smart with the ball. Good range.
Nevaeh Reaves (2021)- can get to the rim and create in the paint. Good on-ball defender with good handles. Sees the floor well. Impressive court awareness.
Jada Duckett (2020)- going to be a senior, Jada was a very solid post player with a lot of tools. She rebounded well, was aggressive, and protected the ball on the boards.
Aneesah Morrow (2022)- she wowed everyone in the gym. Shot blocking machine, strong and athletic. Had to have double figure blocks on the day. Very aggressive on the boards, physical and athletic. In my personal opinion, the best overall player I saw on the day.
Diamond Stokes (2020)- another quality senior, expolosive and had a very quick first step. Another athletic kid who had good strength.
Taylor Stanley (2023)- one of the youngest kids in the gym, but one of the best. Flashy and athletic, controlled the ball well, ran the floor and scored at the rim. Improved since I saw her as a middle schooler.
Kaci Helmick (2020)- she had already verballed to Wright State, and she showcased her skills. Excellent perimeter shooter with range, can put the ball on the floor and a smart, heady player. Quick, strong player.
