Aloera “Allie” Osterman, 5’9″, G/F, Manhattan, Ohlde Elite 17U Yellow – This was a good refresh of what I saw of Osterman in May. In this outing she showed good ability to get to the basket. It will be interesting to observe continued development as a scorer for her senior season as well as the ability to keep perimeter players in front of her.
Hallie Vaughn, 5’7″, G, Colby, Ohlde Elite 17U Yellow – This was my first opportunity to watch Vaughn. While she did not typically run the point, defending opposing point guards was her common assignment.
Hannah Landwehr, 5’7″, G, Bishop Carroll, Next Level Eclipse 17 McCorry – Landwehr showed one of the better ball fakes I’ve seen to set up a take to the basket. She continues to be a solid shooter from beyond the arc.
Ohlde Elite 17 Yellow point guard Gaby Martinez defended on the perimeter at USJN pre-National tournament in Wichita.Gabriella “Gaby” Martinez, 5’6″, PG, Manhattan, Ohlde Elite 17U Yellow – Martinez is transferring to Manhattan from Junction City for her senior year. Tough and gritty, Martinez drew a charge on a big post player attacking the basket and handles the ball well against quicker defenders. She is adept at using her body, including lowering her shoulder as she turns the corner, to get to the hole. Among her tools to score with is an effective scoop shot. I would like to see development as a passer against pressure. Will debut highly in rankings on the next refresh.
Emily Weathers, 5’10”, F, Scott City, Ohlde Elite 17U Yellow – The Emporia State University verbal commit was already going to vault up the rankings on the next refresh. All aspects of her game have gelled her into a very diversely talented and competitive player in the months since seeing her at the Class 3A state tournament in March. Unfortunately I did not get to enjoy her play as much as I would have liked due to the team’s quarterfinal loss. She runs the floor well, can catch and finish with contact in transition, and shoots quickly off and interior feed. She also showed good hops and aggressiveness competing for rebounds.
