Continue ReadingWith over 300 teams, it was a “no brainer” to hang around PBR Super 64 all three days because I live by my #talentiseverywhere hashtag which was amended to include “if you know what you’re looking at” and you don’t have to have a certain logo on your jersey or shoes, be coached or trained by a certain individual, none of that matters, at least to me, because it didn’t matter when my daughter played, she’s in the WNBA, and nothing has changed because I want to see “it” for myself, on the court. Several of the players listed I’ve been watching as long as 5 years and some less than 5 months but I always look for one thing, progression. I love going back in time to see what I wrote, not just to prove how much I know, that’s been proven so here we go
Caitlin KobinskeCaitlin Kobiske-5’11 PF (Texas Elite Raptors 16U) Keller Central HS-there are several things you can’t teach and I don’t care what they say about most but “desire and heart” are my top two. She battles for EVERYTHING off the boards, plays bigger and taller and won’t back down. Oh yeah, she finishes strong, plays defense in the paint and on the perimeter
Jade Goynes-5’10 PF (Texas Elite Supreme) North Crowley HS-athletic and just bring it, I love seeing players read defense and play passing lanes, she does that well and her mid long was always there, it’s just deeper and on the money even more. Her energy level stays high, she talks on the floor and just does so many things that don’t show up in the box score
Isabella Earle-5’9 COMBO (Texas Elite Prime) Denton Guyer- 5 years ago I wrote this “already shows a knack for the game, anticipates extremely well, makes good decisions and can score multiple ways. Didn’t mind contact which is definitely a plus” and the term plus fits right in because her catch and shoot from deep, her ball handling under pressure have added more fuel to the fire
Daisy Rodriguez-5’8 G (Lady Wolfpack) Whitney HS-long and can create her shot is what I saw 3 years ago as well as battling for rebounds. Add the fact that the long ball is pretty accurate, she can stop and and pop plus watching her zig zag through defenses this summer has been a treat. Upside says “plenty more to come”
Bre’Yon White-6’0 F (Cy Fair Premier Blue) Shadow Creek HS-the first time I saw her I was amazed I had missed her until I found out she was from home, Louisiana, and I haven’t missed anything since. I love her mentality, she thinks the game and does whatever she needs to get better which is funny since I called her a D1 lock in the 7th grade. Mid-range, off the dribble, put backs, whatever not to mention that heat she brings on defense
Londyn Steere-6’0 SG (Rock Nation 2021 Red) Tom Glenn HS- I will never “steer” you wrong, I have since this young lady an abundance of times over the past 4 months and every time I watch her, she brings something else to the table. Big guards that can shoot are on many college coaches short list but her poise under pressure keeps selling me. Mid to long, count it and count on her to continue bring “it”
Paige Bradley-5’11 SG (SA Finest Team Dungee) Bishop Lynch HS-powerful off the ground, one tournament I wrote “ups” an d it fits the elevates title but there’s much more. Nice stroke, sort of like playing around the world with herself and her quick release coupled with her size makes her a definite threat that you want to be aware of at all times
Kamari Portalis-5’6 SG (Texas Elite 2020-Chuck) Magnolia West HS-What can I say about her that I haven’t said since I first saw her. She was shy off the court that initial sighting but when the first tip went up, I knew what I was seeing in the early stages. Her range and composure, her ball handling and her knowledge of the game are all good but those highlight photos will be forever embedded in my memory
Aniyah Buckley-5’4 SG (UTLB Jacobs) Mansfield Timberview- In 2014 I wrote “just continues to impress me with her feel for the game, plays within herself but can take over oat a blink” 2017 “watching her early in the morning making highlight moves definitely gave me a boost. Nice pull-up, finished strong with contact” and now range is deeper, loves to defend and I added what I wrote so you’ll understand what I mean when I say I look for progression
