They’ve played their last Spring, they’re entering the second half of their final July, and they’ll be beginning their Senior years very soon. As we recently updated our player rankings, I wanted to take the time to touch on each position group one by one. The 2-Guard position group hasn’t ever been the strongest group in 2020, but these last six months have seen quite a few girls rise in the rankings due to improved play, strength building, and skillful development. With that said, here’s a look at the Top-25 2-Guard prospects in Indiana’s Class of 2020.

Katie Davidson of Lawrence North High School holds down the #1 spot in the position group for another term, but she’s also one of the best uncommitted prospects remaining in Indiana’s Class of 2020. She is strong and physical, tough-nosed, and she has always done a lot of the “little things” no one else is willing to do to help a team win. What has impressed me the most about her this Spring & Summer is that she is shooting the ball consistently outside, but she’s always taking good shots and making quality decisions on just about every possession.
Lake Central High School’s Sara Zabrecky has had an outstanding Spring & Summer with her grassroots team, and considering all of the athletes they have, she’s been able to locate open space around the perimeter and bury shots consistently…sort of her forte. I wish she was just a little more explosive, but she is a tough kid, she doesn’t mind physicality, and she will get in there and do a lot of gritty things to help her team. Lately I’ve seen a resemblance to Mackenzie Taylor, who played at Richmond High School and did similar things in a successful career at Wright State University. A little while back, Sara earned an offer from St. John’s in the Big East.
I have always been a fan of Sarah O’Day of Plainfield High School, but after seeing her grow a couple of inches in the last year, and to watch her shoot it consistently from the perimeter this grassroots season, I think she’s an even better prospect now and is probably a bit under-recruited because of it. Sarah is long, fluid & smooth, and she has a natural feel for the game. She handles it fairly well and can create offense for others, but she’s also a nice shooter and slashing scorer. As she continues to gain strength, I think she’ll become just that much more consistent in all facets of the game.
Erin Lillis of Bloomington High School North has burst onto the scene this Spring, and this is actually her first time appearing in our rankings. She is a solid athlete, and she’s a strong guard who doesn’t mind physicality at all. When I saw her at our showcase in mid-June, what I thought stood out the most was her ball-handling ability, and how well she took care of it and facilitated the offense. She is a capable shooter at all levels, but her ability to attack off the dribble, create for others, and take care of the basketball while doing so really serves her well.
I think one of the biggest small college ‘sleepers’ in this 2020 class could be Eryn Turner of Shortridge High School. Eryn originally attended Broad Ripple High School, but when the school closed after her Sophomore year, she had to make other arrangements. She is a long, slender, but quick/fast and athletic guard. She likes the ball in her hands so she can slice to the basket and make plays off the dribble. She is tough-nosed, stronger than she looks, and she is just a nice playmaker. She can knock down an outside shot on occasion, but more consistency outside could make her a real problem for opposing defenses.
