As we recently updated our player rankings, I wanted to take the time to touch on each position group one by one. This collection of Point Guards has greatly escalated its recruiting, especially at the top, with five prospects now in the Top-10 overall, turning it from an area of concern into an area of strength. Below we take a look at the Top-20 Point Guard prospects in Indiana’s Class of 2021.

Ariana Wiggins of Heritage Christian School has long been considered the top point guard prospect and top overall prospect in Indiana’s 2021 class, and so far this Spring she has played like it. She is a talented athlete, she handles the ball and runs offense, she’s a very good passer, but she is shooting it much more consistently from the perimeter, and she’s a tremendous threat to score anytime she has the ball in her hands. Once you watch her for an entire game, it’s easier to see why several High-Major Division-I schools are following her around.
The prospect who has probably improved her stock the most this Spring is Kaitlyn Costner of Elkhart Central High School. She is an elite athlete who can run, jump, and change directions as well or better than just about any player in the state, regardless of class. She is an 84-feet defender, she has good strength at her size, and she’s incredibly tough to stop from getting to the basket. As she continues to develop her skillset, look for offers to begin rolling in one after another.
Angola High School’s Hanna Knoll is another player who has really seen her recruiting elevated this Spring. She looks so much more assertive this year, she has improved her skillset a great deal, and now she is playing as consistently as she ever has. The result is a number of Mid-Major Division-I offers since the first “live” period in April. I also really like how hard she plays on each possession.
Speaking of motors, there might not be one much better than that of Mishawaka Marian High School’s McKenzie Hudgen. She ALWAYS plays hard, competes, and she plays both guard positions tough and physical. She is strong to the basket and can finish with either hand, she can knock down an open rhythm jumper, and she is an intelligent guard who runs offense fairly efficiently for her teams. I also like the amount of energy she uses each possession defensively.
Next I want to turn to Kalea Fleming of Loogootee High School. She has had about as good of a Spring as anyone on this list, and I might still be a little low on her ranking-wise. She is long, bouncy, and she plays with speed and quickness. She has tightened her handle, become a better passer, and she gets to the rim just about anytime she wants. As she continues to make her jump-shot more consistent, I think it will open up her possibilities a lot more offensively. She’s also a solid defensive player.
Finally, I would like to introduce you to “Miss Intangible”, and that is Alyna Santiago of Crown Point High School. As one coach told me in Louisville last weekend, “she will get recruited simply because she does so many things others aren’t willing to do.” I couldn’t agree more. She is a tough-nosed, end-to-end defender who can frustrate opponents. She’s as unselfish as they come offensively, and she’s a kid who constantly plays with energy, dives on the floor, takes charges, and backs down from no one.
