At the top of our point guard rankings you’ll see our top ranked player in the state Caitlin Clark. Clark is there for a reason and in my opinion is head and shoulders above anyone in the state. One of the premier scorers in the nation, Clark is a walking bucket. You can win games with her at the helm of your team regardless of level that you play. She is ranked #4 in the nation by ESPN and is now overseas competing with team USA. Clark is must see basketball this year and I imagine that people will be flocking to see her play this upcoming season. Maya McDermott is behind Clark as the next point guard in line. McDermott is a true point guard who facilitates the ball well and can score at the rim despite her size. She has committed to Northern Iowa and sits at #7 on our overall 2020 rankings. Rose Nkumu is a fast rising guard who is becoming more confident in her abilities and finds herself at #3 on the point guards list and #8 overall in the state. Nkumu is committed to Marquette and is on the rise as her confidence grows. Rounding out the point guards in the top ten you have Ellie Foster at #10 and the fourth ranked point guard. Foster is a scoring point guard with a really good feel for the game. She creates space really well for herself and doesn’t mind creating for others either.
Outside of the top ten, I think the player with the chance to move up the quickest is Maddy Duncan. She sits at #17 currently but is one of the highest scorers in the state. Duncan is a small guard but is starting to show the ability to separate from defenders on the way to the rim. Once she starts to get to the rim and score the ball better I think that she is really going to start to take off. She has a future in college basketball because of her second nature scoring ability.
