It also is likely the most highly attended – from July 5th-8th, over 1000 coaches/evaluators emerged on the Kentucky Expo Center to watch some of the country’s top players.
On one of the biggest exposure weekends of the year, Ohio was well-represented in Louisville. A number of teams made runs in the Platinum and Gold divisions and a number of players emerged as legitimate college prospects, while a few familiar faces continued to solidify themselves as some of the state’s best.
Who are some Ohio players that stood out in Louisville, Kentucky?
Marley Cox – Cincy Shock U17 – Class of 2021
Plays off of the ball for a majority of the time on her AAU team, but has the potential to play the 1. She is athletic and uses that athleticism to defend at a high level. Cox has great intangibles and makes all of her teammates better. In addition to her ability to get to the rim, Marley is a great shooter.
Jai Duval – SMAC Takeover – Class of 2020
Jai is a quick guard with a good mid-range game. One reason that her mid-range game is so outstanding is due to the fact that she gets to the rim at such a high rate – defenders have to give her space. Jai plays very hard – with a high level of confidence – without ever losing her composure.
Zoe Miller – Berlin Hiland Lady Hawks – Class of 2021
In a rare case where a high school team played in the Run 4 The Roses, Zoe Miller showed why she is headed to Bowling Green when her HS career ends. The physicality and effort that Miller plays with are impressive. Her attack mindset puts constant pressure on defenses and helps her get to the foul line at a very high rate. She is an elite offensive rebounder.
Jayden Moore – North Coast Showtime – Class of 2020
Showtime features a number of Northwest Ohio’s top players and Jayden Moore certainly belongs in that group. Moore is a tweener who plays in the “point forward” mold. She can handle the ball and initiate the offense or she can play off of the ball as her team’s primary scorer – whether it be coming off of screens or posting up smaller defenders on the block. Moore is a good rebounder who also consistently competes on the defense end.
Abbie Rosol – MAC Basketball Navy – Class of 2023
Abbie is a scrappy combo-guard with long arms that allow her to successfully defend a number of different types of perimeter players. She is scrappy and tough – although she is a guard, she hits the boards hard on both ends of the floor. Rosol is strong around the rim and shows big-time promise as a scorer.
Allie Stockton – Ohio Elite 2023 – Class of 2023
Stockton is an explosive/athletic wing with solid strength. She is a relentless attacker of the rim and does a good job of finishing through contact. A good rebounder – Stockton has 3 years left of HS ball. She is definitely a player to watch.
Skylar Young – Glass City Fury Bouma – Class of 2021
Skylar is a big and strong post with a frame built to play around the basket. She is an aggressive rebounder on both ends of the floor who protects the rim and alters a lot of shots. If she adds some go-to post moves, her offensive game can reach the level of her defensive game before graduation.
