In lieu of the August rankings update, here are a few names that have made a case to move up the charts and some off the radar players that made a case to be added for the first time.
SYDNET BOONE – 5’7″ – POINT GUARD – BOO WILLIAMS – 2021
Sydney BooneSydney was one of the top middle school players coming up and has really put in work to stay amongst the top. She has been off of our radar for a while but seeing her all grown up she had the full package for a point guard. She has great vision and scores without being selfish. She makes her teammates look good.
JESSICA TOMASETTI – 5’6″ – POINT GUARD – GERMANTOWN LADY PANTHERS – 2020
Jessica TomasettiJessica had stepped her game up over the past year but in the July she took her game to even another level. Her shot has gotten very consistent and she makes really good decisions with the ball.
SARA YODA – 5’10” – F0RWARD – MARYLAND BELLES – 2020
Sara is a solid forward and a good finisher around the basket. She was used a lot in the post but I was able to see that there are some perimeter skills in her bag. She has the prototypical wing body and showing it more will boost her stock even more.
SYDNEY AVOLETTA – 6’3″ – POST – LOUDOUN FLIGHT – 2020
Sydney AvolettaSydney is a post that can stretch the floor out and shoot a consistent three pointer. She is a good passer and can put the ball on the floor. She blocks and alters shots without fouling and runs the floor well. Her game easily translates to the college game.
ATHINA NKANGNIA – 6’1″ – POST – 1 ON NONE – 2022
Athina the size to be a presence in the middle. She is a good interior defender as she alters shots just by raising her arms. She will be one to follow as she gets stronger and more physical she will be a force in Montgomery County.
KELLY LUCK – 5’8″ – GUARD – 023 FEET – 2020
Kelly is one of the better catch and shoot players in the region. Her accuracy is a real threat from 25 feet away from the basket. She is active on both ends and challenges the ball at the rim. She makes good decisions in transition. It was good to see her growth from an 8th grader with potential to a legitimate division one senior.
MACKENZIE VEST – 5’8″ – COMBO GUARD – TEAM LIBERTY – 2020
MacKenzie VestMackenzie is the sleeper pick of the 2020 class. She has the strength, size and speed to play in a major division one conference. The talent was seen in spurts for a while in July, especially the USJN DC she put it all together and dominated in games.
