As summer ball is now in full swing, Prep Girls Hoops Kansas takes a look at some of the state’s top players on the rise in a variety of positions.
Below are some of the state’s players to keep your eyes on in the 2020 class
Kassie Kinniburgh, 6’1, C, 2020, Valley Center
A strong and intelligent forward who is good at collecting herself before she makes it play. She can handle the balsam inside and knows when to go after the ball and how to use her frame to find angles to get a shot off. She has good size and is talented with the ball in her hands. She keeps an eye on our weak side and can seal off her opponents and put up to and get to the free-throw line.
Cassie Cooks, 5’9, F, 2020, McPherson
An athletic multiple-sport athletes who is great at keeping an eye on the ball and boxing out opponents. She plays up do to her athleticism and strength. She is quick on the floor and can clean up place in transition this is smart defender and can get you buckets if you need them. Cooks works hard on both ends of the floor and can block shots and create opportunities.
Thea Alschner, 6’1, C, 2020, Chanute
A team-first player who looks to make a statement on the defensive side and can hold her own against anyone on the floor. She moves her feet well for her position and has good length and can block shots. She can handle the ball in transition and is good at scoring near the basket and using her size to her advantage against smaller players who switch out and are forced to defend her.
Natasha Dooley, 5’11, F, 2020, Garden Plain
A good rebounder on both ends of the floor who keeps her eyes on the play. Dooley can be aggressive when she needs to end can also score off second Chance looks under the basket. A strong player with good size to have on the floor who is versatile and is good it keeping the flow of the game alive.
Andrea Sweat, 6’1, G/F, 2020, McPherson
A combination player who can as a small forward, a power forward and a center depending on the matchup. Sweat has a long frame and is good at contesting shots and getting touches by moving in and out of the paint and even around the perimeter.
