As summer ball is now in full swing, Prep Girls Hoops Kansas takes a look at some of the state’s top players on the rise in a variety of positions.
Below are some of the state’s players to keep your eyes on in the 2021 class
Jaidyn Schomp, 6’2, C, 2021, Derby
An impressive two-way player who shows a terrific upside and promise across the board. She is great height and is quick on and off the ball. She can create shots for herself and has a soft-touch to her shot in the mid-range area. She can extend plays and has a high basketball IQ. A defensive nightmare kuchen stay strong down low and handle herself on the perimeter.
Kennedy Taylor, 6’2, C, 2021, Shawnee Mission Northwest
An athletic player who also has a promising upside. She’s a good rebounder and is smart with the fenders all around her. She is also quick on her feet and can clean up plays and get to the free-throw line. Taylor is constantly moving and is aggressive under the basket. She runs the floor extremely well for her size and can finish plays through contact.
Riley Rottinghaus, 6’2, C, 2021, Nemaha Central
A great sized center who has long arms and is smart in the paint. She’s a good defender and looks to contest shots and saw anything that comes her way. She’s a good passer and can finish plays if she needs to. Rottinghaus can also be an important rebounder. her length and overall strength allows her to get in touch on the ball others find difficult to secure.
Olivia Wedman, 6’0, C, 2021, Maize
Redmond is a physical center who knows how to find her positioning. She can connect off the glass and looks to shoot quickly when she has the ball. She cleans up plays well in transition and can sneak back door and squirt buckets through her movement along the baseline.
Sarah Bingman, 6’3, C, 2021, Shawnee Mission East
Player with great height and a nice feel for the floor. Bingman has good instincts as a defender and moves quickly to collapse on the ball and greet opponents. She is great at blocking shots and is good at finding her position and sealing off opponents. She can rebound well and can score a little too. She looks to make smart passes and is grade at King offer teams fast-break looks. A defender who recovers plays quickly.
