As summer ball is now in full swing, Prep Girls Hoops Kansas takes a look at some of the state’s top players on the rise in a variety of positions.
Below are some of the state’s players to keep your eyes on in the 2022 class
Kylie Dunn, 5’7, G, 2021, Shawnee Mission North
An extremely quick player who moves well off the ball and can create plays for herself. She passes quickly and looks to run the floor and get the ball out in front. She can connect from distance and has solid vision. A player who can operate either guard position and do so well.
Kassidy Beam, 5’5, G, 2021, McPherson
Beam plays well off the ball and can get to the basket and score. She is smart on the floor and attacks the basket from her strong side and you can use her frame to her advantage when she moves inside. She can connect as a shooter and looks to distribute the ball to her teammates and make extra passes when she sees an opening.
Sofia Semon, 5’11, G, 2021, Gardner-Edgerton
Impressive guard who is quick with her dribble and plays with purpose. She can shoot from distance immediately after the catch or take her opponents by surprise with her quick first step. She plays well and transition and can finish through contact and even get to the free-throw line. A confident player overall who has a nice rhythm to her step.
Ja’Neysha Hendricks, 5’4, G, 2021, Topeka
A smart player who protects the ball and is good at keeping her teammates happy. She can weave in and out of traffic and has a nice hesitation to her game. She can shoot and get to the free-throw line. She can get around opponents and pull it back out and reset the offense. Hendricks is also good at feeding the ball inside to post players.
Hayley Hughes, 5’9, G, 2021, Hutchinson Trinity
a nice player to watch who can do a little bit of everything on the floor. She is aggressive when she needs to be and is a good defender and keeps her eyes on the ball. She can handle it’s some and can connect from distance and even mix things up inside.
