It seems like our readers really enjoyed that type of content due to the high viewing numbers it got in its first day live. So I decided to expand it a little bit more and give the people more content that they want! Here are the top forwards of the summer!
*Disclaimer: I only evaluate the players that I have physically seen play in person.
Ali Zelaya 6’4 2020 F Millennium/AZ Elite
Zelaya unfortunately saw her season cut short due to injury. However, before that injury she was playing lights out. She shows great footwork down low and has a very consistent mid-range jumper. I am very impressed with her post moves every time I see her play.
Kiya Dorroh 6’1 2021 G/F Sabino/West Coast Premier
Dorroh is one of the most versatile players in the state, if not the most versatile. She plays both guard and forward, depending on the teams needs. She can do a little bit of everything and has no super noticeable holes in her game. She had a great sophomore season and somehow looks even better now than she did then! Great work ethic.
Marisa Davis Jones 6’1 2021 F Valley Vista/West Coast Premier
Best athlete in state, hands down. This girl is an athletic freak! She is super long, super fast, and jumps ridiculously high. Rumor has it, that she can potentially dunk. I have not seen this in game but I hope that happens soon! MDJ flies around the court with her speed and long strides.
Amanda Barcello 5’11 2021 F Seton Catholic/BSP
Barcello has steadily improved throughout the summer and she looks like one of the most versatile players as well. She has really good size and strength, but is more than capable of handling the ball and guarding the perimeter. I actually really like Barcello’s defensive game!
Kennedy Basham 6’6 2022 F Pinnacle/Cal Swish
Basham has a super high ceiling and she’s getting there. As long as she continuously improves, she’s going to be a stud! She has great size, standing at 6’6! She is also a really good shot blocker and shows really good timing on those blocks.
