AAU and high school teams from Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware converged to showcase in front of the CAA champions staff along with some division two coaches that were on hand. It was also a chance for teams to fine tune their games before the start of the July live period. Lots of good match-ups with several games going into overtime. Here are some perimeter players that stood out during the day.
Alana Tate – 5’7″ – Point Guard – 1 on None – 2023
Alana TateAlana played like a seasoned veteran as she went up against the Forest Park (VA) varsity team. She has a smooth rhythm to her game as she maneuvers through the lane. She has a nice outside game and runs her team of rising sophomores flawlessly.
Alayna Arnolie – 5’8″ – Point Guard – Elevate Elite – 2022
Alayna ArnolieAlayna has good game control and can knock down shots from anywhere on the floor. She is very good in transition and makes good decisions finding teammates or getting to the basket herself.
Lee Volker – 5’8″ – Combo Guard – Loudon Flight – 2021
Lee VolkerLee is a really good shooter and finisher at the basket. She was one of the top overall players in the building on both ends of the floor. Her energy running the floor and her harassing defense spreaded amongst her teammates as they fed off of her lead.
Brenae Ford – 5’6″ – Combo Guard – Team Durant – 2020
Brenae FordBrenae showed off a nice mid range pull up off the dribble. She can handle the ball pretty well and was efficient at the point. She did her damage off the ball knocking down shot after shot from around 13 feet out.
Gabrielle Johnson – 5’7″ – Shooting Guard – Power Move – 2022
Gabrielle JohnsonGabby led her team in scoring opening up the game with a three pointer. She got to the basket repeatedly tearing through the defense in transition. She is quick with the ball in her hands and playing up against a 17u team was no problem for her.
Kensley Benjamin – 5’7″ – Point Guard – Team Sol – 2020
Kensley BenjaminKensley did whatever she wanted on the floor in route to a game high 20 points. She shot the three ball, mid range and got to the basket. She finished with contact and made her free throws. Continuing her play in July will make her a hot commodity for college coaches this summer.
