Continue ReadingDasha Macmillan was one of those players I knew would just break out and get looks because she has size, skilled up and range and she started receiving offers last season but after PBR Heart Of Texas, the floodgates of opportunities started flowing in and she decided that the Air Force would be her next stop. Nevertheless, she continued to put up numbers and fill up the stat sheet for Higher Goals at PBR Super 64 and left me smiling because she impressed before she even played middle school ball so I knew it was coming. Here are some of the other standouts that won’t be under for long

Cheyenne Bonilla-5’6 G (Cy Fair Premier Black) Eastlake HS- talk about going off when it counted, she continues to show two things over and over, she can get hers in the flow or just take a game over and scoring 10 down the stretch gives you a picture. Range, creates her shot and is a gamer, wants ball during clutch
Geonna Waddell-5’3 G (Houston Lady Roadrunners) Lutheran North HS you have players that are fast and those who are fast with the ball and Waddell is the latter and let me add under control. #sizedontmatter when you can play, she defends baseline to baseline and her improved range raised plenty of eyebrows other than mine
Emily Dogbaste-5’10 G (Texas Elite 2020 Chuck) energy and athleticism through the roof is what I saw in her a few years ago but my numerous highlights of her highlights on Instagram show her defying gravity for and ones or dropping the long ball to win games, several times. She just comes at you, over and over
2021
Aiken Semones-5’6 G (Texas Elite 2020 Chuck) The Village School HS- finds ways to get job done on both ends and she just impresses me over and over by doing things that don’t show up on stat sheet. What does show up is her unlimited range as well as he ability to take defenders off the dribble consistently
Valerie PanucoValerie Panuco-5’6 G (Lady Wolfpack) Whitney HS-smart and steady, plays within her self, plays passing lane, anticipates defense, just some of the things I love seeing that seem to have taken a back seat. She dives on the floor and attacks the basket easily but her extended range throughout the season tells me shows working
Marissa Tell-6’1 F (SKA) Haynesville HS (LA) – I’ve been crossing the state line for years, I know I wrote this a couple of years ago “she’s just under 6’0 with a 6’2 wingspan and the little things she does at this age sort of tell me what big things are coming. She’s athletic ,can handle the ball and watching her in the open court now already grabs my attention but trust me, she’s nowhere near the finished product and with her upside, big things are coming” and now she’s over 6’0 and just solidifies everything I said plus she can score at will
2022
Mercedes Mancha-5-6 G (HTX Fire 2022) Alvin HS- off the dribble or off the chart with long ball, this young lady makes things happen on both ends. Poised under pressure handling the ball, she sees the floor and makes pinpoint passes in traffic. I love progression and defense has taken a jump
Alex Neimeth-5’6 G (Rock Nation 2022 Red) Cedar Ridge HS- progression continues as she has shown so much growth in a year that it just blows me away. She can score in the flow, run a squad, defend yet what she’s showing me more of of wanting and delivering in the clutch. She battles on the boards and with her desire, she will keep elevating her status
Iyanna McCownKolby Davis-5’8 G (HTX Fire 2022) Kincaid HS-attacks basket with power, finishes strong with contact and can shoot the midrange consistently. One of those “whatever you need me to do” players as she’s on the floor or diving in the stands not to forget she battles on both ends for rebounds
Iyanna McCown -5’6 (Texas U 15U GUAA) Duncanville HS- one more time #sizedontmatter when you can play and in the 4th Grade, I wrote this, “she was one of the players that showed a lot of potential”, keep in mind this was a middle school camp but this young lady understands controlling the tempo and setting teammates up for easy baskets nit to mention score when she has to
Abbie BoutlierKenna Gibson-5’5 G (HTX Fire 2022) Clear Springs HS-catch and shoot from deep, creates off the dribble for the midrange, one thing is for certain, she can score multiple ways. Love watching her attack and split defense in the open court but to be honest, when you can shoot the ball the way she does, so many things open up
2023
Abigail “Abbie” Boutlier-6’6 P (Texas Lone Star Black) Flower Mound HS-strong and powerful yet nowhere near the finished product. Her outlet passes, igniting the break, running the floor, have all continued to improve, she’s scoring more facing the basket and rebounding on both ends. Improved timing is a huge plus as she alters or blocks shots with ease
Riley McCloskey-5’4 PG (Just Play 15U Elite) Memorial HS- I thought she was an urban legend, had heard about her 2 years ago but after seeing here play in 17U division a few months ago, she will be a school legend and more. Talented PG that gets to the basket with ease, splits defenders, threads the needle on passes and just has a flair about her game you can’t teach
