There are six teams in the SCL, with several top players to watch this coming season.
Anna
There are two players who I think will really step up their games this season, as junior Ella Doseck Ella Doseck 5'6" | PG Anna | 2021 OH and senior Lauren Barhorst look to lead the Rockets this year. Doseck is a hard-nosed guard who really had a great summer, improving on her outside game and her leadership skills. Barhorst is a 6-foot-2 post who is strong on the boards, and can get the ball out in transition. Kip Rowland is another player who I think will come into her own this year and provide solid play for Anna.
Botkins
Should battle in the middle of the pack in the SCL as they will be improved from last season. I had the chance to see their sophomore guard Carmen Heuker a couple of times this summer, and her game has improved. She will be their floor leader and likely their leading offensive player.
Fairlawn
Sophomore Lonna Heath is a player who showed a lot this summer when I saw the Jets in the Wittenberg Team Camp this summer. 5-8 senior MaCalla Huelskamp and 5-8 junior Ashley Roush also returns and will be a factor in the success of the Jets.
Fort Loramie
The heavy favorite to win the league again, as the Redskins return everyone from their regional runner-up team. They are loaded everywhere including the likes of reigning Player of the Year Marissa Meiring Marissa Meiring 5'10" | PF Fort Loramie High School | 2020 OH , Taylor Ratermann, Dana Rose Dana Rose 6'0" | SF Fort Loramie | 2021 State OH , Kenzi Hoelscher, Ava Scholtis and Kennedi Gephart. They are loaded top to bottom, and have their eyes set on getting out of a very tough regional this year.
Houston
Struggled last season, and they have some nice younger kids who look to contribute this year.
Jackson Center
Another team who struggled to score last year, and they lost their lone all-conference player to graduation.
Russia
Returns 5-7 Ashley Scott, a player who is a quick guard, good perimeter shooter and has a nice pull-up jumper. She runs the floor well and attacks the rim on the break. Also back is Olivia Moorman, a 5-5 guard who will take over the point guard spot, Jessica York, a 5-9 forward who needs to be the consistent post player for the Raiders, and Katelyn Monnin who is a 5-6 junior coming back from an ACL.
