Continue ReadingKentucky’s Senior class is full of scholarship level college players. Several have already committed and will sign this fall. The Class is deep at every position across the board. Here’s a look at some of Kentucky’s best shooting guards and combo guards.
Maddie Scherr, Ryle – The top player in the state is also the top player in this list. Scherr is a playmaker with the ball in her hands. She can play on the ball or off so the title of combo guard is a good one for Maddie. She should be the early favorite for 2020 Miss Basketball. She’s committed to Oregon.
Shelby Calhoun, CAL – Shelby is already highly ranked and her best basketball lies ahead of her. Calhoun is a good athlete who is among the best rebounders in the state. She should average a double-double this season and could post a couple of triple doubles before graduation. She’ll play her college basketball at Virginia Tech.
Erin Toller, Sacred Heart – Toller committed to Kentucky early in the process and is focused on returning to the court this winter and showing the state why she is such a highly regarded prospect. After missing her Junior season with an ACL tear, Erin’s return puts Sacred Heart in the mix to win it all at Rupp Arena in March.
Ellie Taylor, Elizabethtown – One of the biggest risers of the summer, Taylor went from no offers to multiple D1 offers. She and Whitney Hay combine to form the top scoring duo in the 5th region and are the favorites to win the 5th region this season.
Kaylee Mathis, Clay County – One of the best players in the mountains this season, Mathis is headed to play college ball at Cumberlands. While she is known for her scoring abilities, Mathis’ overall game gets overlooked sometimes. She can do more than score as Kaylee does a lot of the little things to help her team win.
Other Names to Know:
Elizabeth Bertram, Barren County – Before heading to Campbellsville for college, Bertram will try to get the Lady Trojans to Rupp Arena
Emilee Hope, Henderson County – One of the state’s best available Seniors, Hope is a big time scorer and one of the best in Western Kentucky.
Olivia Federle, Collins – Federle helped to lead Collins to the state tournament as a Junior and will try to get the Lady Titans back there in 2020.
Mia Beam, CAL – A hard worker with a great motor, Beam should have an increased scoring role this season.
Dayja Evans, PRP – Evans earned her first offers this summer and is going to be one of the best public school players in Louisville.
