The talented 2020 class just had a major update and there are a lot of new faces that have emerged with their play over the summer. We will dive deeper into the top wings of the class of 2020.
ANGEL REESE – 6’3″ – ST. FRANCES ACADEMY – TEAM TAKEOVER
Angel ReeseAngle took hold the top spot as a freshman and never loosened her grip. Her game has gotten more refined and her range has increased over the years. She is long with a frame standing around 6’3″, she can play multiple positions on the floor. I watched her go from point to center and every position in between over the course of a single game. She is a really good rebounder and finisher and has a relentless motor that keeps working late in games. Angel is an all around athlete that is well deserving to hold the title of top player in the state of Maryland.
MADISON SCOTT – 6’2″ – BISHOP MCNAMARA – TEAM TAKEOVER
Madison ScottMadison is the most pro-ready player in the class. She has a mature efficient game that you don’t see from many high schoolers. Her work ethic is impeccable as I see her at times putting hours in the gym outside of any of her team practices under the watchful eye of trainer Jay Gavin (Trust Your Grind). Defensively she has the foot speed to defend the highest level point guards and the length to cause them problems. She has a really good mid range shot and a quick first step to get the space to get it off. She has good elevation and accuracy on her shot as well.
MIR MCLEAN – 5’9″ – ROLAND PARK – TEAM TAKEOVER
Mir McLeanMir has emerged as a national favorite with her high flying theatrics. Her vertical leap is phenomenal for a high school player. She is one of the best rebounders around at only 5’9″ due to the fact that she out jumps everyone on the floor by six inches or more. Mir will be taking her talent to UConn next year and giving her commitment to Geno recently. She is a really good finisher and gets to the line frequently where she knocks down free throws at a pretty high rate.
SKYLAR TREADWELL – 6’0″ – ST. JAMES SCHOOL – MARYLAND LADY TERPS
Skylar TreadwellSkylar has been consistent over the years. She has good size and is really active, the activity makes her difficult to guard as her feet is always moving to get open. She has a quick release and good range from beyond the arc. Skylar has a nice transition game and will be lacing her sneakers up at Seton Hall next season.
JANAE DUBLIN – 6’2″ – GWYNN PARK – ELEVATE ELITE*
Janae DublinJanae has made the successful transition from a post only player starting with her high school coach allowing her to split time at the perimeter and her club coach giving her exclusive perimeter time. She is still capable of playing with her back to the basket but her ability to stretch the floor from the three and drive from the key top makes her a matchup difficulty for opposing coaches. A late season ankle sprain in high school may have derailed her Maryland State Championship hopes but she returns as a more complete and healthy player for a do-over.
