Continue ReadingI used my search bar to try and find old pictures of Gisella Maul and low and behold, not only did I find that but many of the other young players on her Cy Fair 15U Platinum Evans squad that won USJN 16U and more recently competed in the Jr NBA Global Championship. I didn’t get a chance to catch the team live at the Summer Elite Championship but seeing many of the players I’ve already had on Tip Sheets as early as elementary school on other squads has me updating the 2023 Watch List so I’ll just drop flashbacks on what I said when they were on other teams because again, if I say it, like a Polaroid, watch it develop and you may want to Google Polaroid. Dasia Thomas is the only player I haven’t seen that’s on the roster, I probably did and the coach didn’t have sense enough to turn a roster but she’s listed at 6’3 so ……
Gisella MaulGisella Maul-guard (Cy Fair Elite Maul) already has BCS offers on the table yet has one year of MS left sums it up. Figures out ways on the fly how to get to basket for buckets, pretty hard to stay with and a lot of that has to do with outside scoring ability and still has upside
Dalanna Carter (Nike Cy Fair) as a 4th grader, I said she a D1 Lock and she is well on her way. Explosive off the dribble, plays under control, makes teammates better and sometimes appears to be playing around the world as her range is unlimited
Jacei Denley (Texas Dynasty 2023) has unlimited range, handles the ball under pressure, sees the floor well and just makes things happen
Molly Ly (Texas Full Potential 2023) slow it down and stop the presses. I guess I’ll add Ly to my silent assassin group because she does things in the flow and before you know it, stat sheet is filled up
Loghan Johnson and Fiyinflouwa AdeleyeLoghan Johnson-guard (Katy Rebels King) she put up numbers galore during the event but numbers don’t tell half the story. Athletic and can attack or pull-up from anywhere and nail it. Love her passion and she plays the game hard, every play and on 2nd Tip Sheet- nice hesitation in the open floor mixed with great athletic ability is definitely a starting point but ability to blow by defenders with a deceptive first step and attack basket relentlessly are all pluses at her age but the exclamation point is that she finishes strong with contact. Huge upside
Fiyinfoluwa Adeleye-forward (Katy Rebels King) she has good size, she’s also strong and understands how to use her body on the inside but on top of that she’s athletic, runs the floor, on both ends and can be overpowering at times. As good as she was in the paint, she also faces the basket and scores from 10-12 feet and when you add that she goes after everything on the boards…..
Amarachi KimpsonAmarachi Kimpson (Pro Skills) her BB-IQ is off the charts, better than some off to play at the next level right now. The stop and pop, mid to long range, stutter step, whatever you want offensively, she has it gift wrapped already. She understands how to create for herself and her teammates already and she also knows how to take over or get it in the flow
RyLee Grays-forward/post (Texas Dynasty 2023) I sometimes tag players #sizedontmatter when you can play yet it actually does more times than not when college coaches blow up my phone/email/social media looking for “bigs” Grays is 6’2 and heading to the 7th grade, she’s athletic/long understand s the importance of keeping the ball high and the outlet pass. Great skill set at her age and size, finishes with either hand, runs floor, rebounds and blocks shots and defends so guess what, she will have options galore
Jalayah Ingram (Texas Dynasty 2023) she was a definite bright spot, long and athletic guard that not only plays the passing lane, she defends baseline to baseline and has a good amount of upside since the finished product is nowhere in sight.
