Basketball coaches at all levels want athletes on their roster. It’s a distinct advantage to have players that can physically do things that others can’t.
An athlete can be defined as “a person who is proficient in sports and other forms of physical exercise”. There are some amazing athletes in Michigan’s class of 2021. We will take a look at 5 of the best pure athletes in the junior class.
Kailee Davis Kailee Davis 5'4" | PG Detroit Renaissance | 2021 State MI (5’4″, PG, Detroit Renaissance)
Guarding Davis is like trying to catch a waterbug. She is fast both vertically and horizontally, utilizing her strong hip movement. Davis has great start – stop speed as well.
Damiya Hagemann Damiya Hagemann 5'8" | PG Detroit Edison | 2021 State #35 Nation MI (5’9″, PG, Detroit Edison)
Just watch Hagemann play and you’ll see what we mean. She’s so graceful on the basketball court. Hagemann has amazing body control and can seemingly get to any spot on the floor at any time.
Kaybriana Hallman Kaybriana Hallman 6'3" | PF East Kentwood | 2021 State MI (6’2″, F, East Kentwood)
You can see Hallman’s athleticism in her versatility. She is able to effectively play and guard multiple positions. Hallman is a threat to score at any time from anywhere.
Bree Salenbien Bree Salenbien 6'2" | SF Lenawee Chrisrian | 2021 State #47 Nation MI (6’2″, SF, Adrian Lenawee, Christian)
Salenbien is amazing to watch. She’s usually just bigger, faster, taller, and stronger than the competition. Oh, don’t forget, she’s as fundamentally sound as they come. Salenbien can simply do things that other players with her height can’t do.
Morasha Wiggins Morasha Wiggins 6'0" | SF Kalamazoo Central | 2021 State #42 Nation MI (6’0″, G/F, Kalamazoo Central)
Wiggins is just a combination of it all in terms of athleticism. She is physically strong enough to bulldog her way to the rim, but is quick enough with the dribble to put defenders on their heels. Wiggins is fast and a smooth finisher in the open floor.
