Alyssa Ustby is the ultimate do-everything player. Yes, she can do it all and does it well and that’s why she is weighing offers from a variety of programs that compete at the highest levels of college basketball. What’s easy to forget amid all of the offensive accolades and game-winning plays and overall athletic prowess is this fact: Alyssa is an elite defender. She showed it again this summer in tournament after tournament and for that we are pleased to name Ustby as the Prep Girls Hoops AAU Defensive Player of the Year.

When you combine the length of a pterodactyl with Olympic-level athleticism, superior intellect, outstanding focus and a motor that just won’t quit you have all of the ingredients to be a great stopper. She can block shots, defend all five positions and is quick enough to stay with pretty much any player she comes up against. These are among the many reasons why the 6’2 senior is among the nation’s top 40 players.
