The dust has settled on the AAU season and all of the top teams are heavily engaged in the horse trading that goes on to forge next year’s rosters. Over the next couple of weeks we will be handing out our summer season awards, a process that began last week when we named our AAU Coach of the Year – Marqus McGlothan of DTA Academy 2022 Blue. Today we release the first of four Prep Girls Hoops AAU All Star Teams: the Class of 2020.

We have selected a first and second team, along with five honorable mentions, with two forwards or wings and three guards in each group. Those lines tend to be a little blurry in modern basketball, of course, where positions are far less delineated than in generations past. Perhaps the most important thing to know is that these selections are based on current performance.

When we update the player rankings we regularly issue reminders that the rankings are done in order of college potential, not current performance. In the case of the AAU All Star Teams the exact opposite is true. This recognition is based on a very specific period of time – i.e. the four
