I could easily see a half dozen or more PG’s playing at the Division 1 level in a couple years with continued development. Here are some names to know that college coaches are already paying close attention to.
Most sought after PG of the Class:
5’6 Ashlyn Wallace is the most highly recruited point guard in the state for her class. She will ultimately choose the best fit for her comfortability and playing style for college, but she has garnered a good amount of attention from all sorts of Division 1 colleges. Ashlyn is a high level three shooter, quick on defense and suited for an uptempo playing style.
Best Shooter:
5’5 Julianna Walker is the best shooter for this point guard class. She can really fill it up from deep and she is not shy about shooting it either, as she is confident from just inside of half court. Julianna is comfortable handling the ball against pressure. She has a good amount of colleges tracking her as well and she is right on track to play at the Division 1 level.
Biggest Stock Riser:
5’5 Esmeralda Morales saw her recruitment reach new heights after a very strong spring and summer with Team Northwest in the 17u Nike EYBL. Morales is another very good shooter and most comfortable shooting off the bounce or move. Although undersized, she gets to her spots on the floor and is a threat on the offensive end. Morales has now received offers from Portland State, San Jose State and UC Santa Barbara.
Quickest Point Guard in Class:
5’5 Aaliyah Collins is a blur whenever she feels like turning the jets on. She has an extra gear that you just cannot teach and college coaches are starting to take notice. She had a strong showing at the Eastern Washington University Elite Camp and she is now on the radar of some Division 1 schools. If she works out her jump shot and becomes even decent in that area, she will be a matchup nightmare. *Feature image
Purest Point Guard:
5’8 Emily Mellema is the most traditional and fundamentally sound point guard in the class. She heads the Lynden Christian Lyncs in high school and understands how to run a team and execute in the half court. She had a solid spring and summer handling ferocious pressure on the shoe-circuit. She gained good experience matching up against high level athletes that she doesn’t see in the Lynden area. Emily is an all around solid college prospect and will continue to see her recruitment grow over time.
