The shooting guards mentioned below are a bit of a mixture of playing styles, but definitely fit into the description of quality “off ball” players, although some are capable combo-guards.
2 Top-Tier 2 Guards:
6’0 SG Jada Wynn (King’s HS) – Jada gets the nod as the best shooter of this group. She is a good catch and shoot threat and she can create some off the bounce as well.
5’10 SG Zahirah Walton (Eastside Catholic HS) – Zaza is the most dynamic athlete at the guard position for her class. She is smooth with the ball and slices through the defense with ease. She is also a very good shot blocker at 5’10.
Combo Guard Threat:
5’8 G Veronica Sheffey (Woodinville HS) – Smooth lefty with a solid all around game. Veronica has really grown comfortable at the point guard position and she is capable of playing either backcourt role. She is a catch and shoot three point shooting threat, or she can get the ball into the offense in the half court. *Feature image
5’7 G Mya Groce (Pasco HS) – Smooth combo guard that can play the one or two. She has a solid handle and she can shoot it from multiple levels. Mya also has good instincts on the defensive side of the ball.
Team Concept Guards:
These two off guards are willing and able to do whatever it takes for their team to win a ball game. They can shoot it, handle it and make hustle plays.
5’7 G Kaimyla Nolen (Kentwood HS) – Having watched her play for years, one thing has stood out about Nolen and that is she is a winner. She scraps and does the little things on the floor to help her team be successful.
5’8 SG Riley Johnson (Cashmere HS) – A high IQ basketball player that is coachable and does whatever is asked of her on the floor. She takes care of the ball and competes on the defensive end.
Super skilled 2 guards:
Looking for footwork, skill and shooting? Here are two of the more skilled players in 2022.
5’8 SG Savea Mansfield (Washougal HS) – I was really impressed with Savea when I saw her this summer. She has outstanding footwork and maneuvers her body well to get her shot off in the paint, finishing with either hand. Although she needs to get stronger, she is very skilled at this stage of her career.
5’10 SG Kiana Yesiki (Eisenhower HS) – One of the most talented and skilled players in the 2022 class. There’s a lot to like about her offensive game from her mid range pull up to strong finishes inside the paint. A player to keep an eye on moving forward.
