A handful of players will be mentioned and the term “wing” will be used pretty loosely here. Some may fit into the category of wing-guard, while others are more so wing-forwards. Nonetheless, here are some wings to know about in the rising sophomore class!
This is a bit of a long list, but I could honestly could go along further. More are listed in the 2022 rankings. All of these players range from very good to solid college prospects.
6’2 SF Drea Brumfield (W.F. West HS)
6’1 SF Avery Watkins (Kennedy Catholic HS)
6’0 SF Jadyn Watts (West Seattle HS)
6’0 SF Naomi Hall-Schiffner (Kentridge HS)
6’0 SF Catelyn Deaver (Sumner HS)
5’10 SF Alicia Suggs (Mead HS)
5’10 SF Mckenna Reggear (Colville HS)
6’0 SF Camryn Cartwright (Chiawana HS)
5’10 SF lalissa Fredrickson (Hazen HS)
Overall Analysis for 2022 Wings:
The wing position is definitely the strong point for this class. College coaches can find quality shooters like Naomi Hall, Jadyn Watts or Mckenna Reggear. Then there’s work horses like Alicia Suggs and Catelyn Deaver. There are also players with potential down the road like Camryn Cartwright and lalissa Fredrickson. Avery Watkins and Drea Brumfield are both versatile players whose exact position is hard to pinpoint, but they have high ceilings as college prospects. For the wings in this class they will really need to focus on developing current weak points to fulfill their potential as college prospects. The amount of offers for these wings is lower right now and colleges are playing more of a waiting game to see how they develop. In due time and possibly the near future, college offers are going to start coming in for many of these girls.
Other wings:
5’10 SF Jaiden Bea (Washougal HS) – Watch out for the cousin of current Idaho player, Beyonce Bea. Jaiden is a skilled wing that continues to improve with time. She follows the trend of Washougal players with smooth shooting form and solid footwork. *Feature image
5’9 SF Colbi Zorich (Ingelmoor HS) – Wiry wing player with the ability to push the ball on the break or attack out of a triple threat position in the half court.
5’9 SF Toree Thomas (Fife HS) – The high school All-League performer had a solid club season with Pacific and continues to work hard on improving her all around game.
