The majority of players were from Washington, but they ranged from the border of Washington/Idaho, all the way west towards Glacier Peak and back down to Clark County, Washington at the border of Oregon. I highlighted some of the top shooters from camp already, but these evals will dig a little bit deeper into some of the prospects in attendance.
Guard Evals:
2021 5’10 G Allie Hueckman (Burns HS/OR) – Could have easily made the list of top shooters from the camp, as she stroked it well at different times throughout camp. Allie is an all around skilled player and did very well in the 5 on 5 setting. I believe it is still up in the air as far as what level she is as a college prospect.
2021 5’5 SG Aaliyah Collins (Glacier Peak HS) – The most dynamic guard in the camp with the ball in her hands. Aaliyah is very quick and lethal in the open floor. She is a downhill type of player and at her best attacking the basket. The one question mark for Aaliyah is her jump shot. Her mechanics have gotten better in the last couple years, but she still hesitates a little bit before shooting it. If she can sure this up, she will have better college opportunities.
2021 5’8 SG Maya Erling (Glacier Peak HS) – Solid shooter, but she would prefer to attack the paint and use her athleticism around the painted area. Maya is capable of making some eye opening plays, but she could sometimes benefit from making the simple one. Overall, she is a skilled player that can make plays on the offensive end.
2023 5’9 CG Nikole Thomas (Kamiakin HS) – One of the youngest players in the event, but she fit right in overall. Nikole is a good all around athlete and dominant left-handed player. One of her best moments was taking over a broken down play and getting her team into an offense. This is a rare moment in a camp where players are working to showcase themselves to the coaches. The biggest improvement Nikole will need to make as she enters high school is her shooting mechanics, but she has time to work on this.
2022 5’8 G Savea Mansfield (Washougal HS) – Skilled player overall. Savea really impressed me with her footwork and pivots in the paint. She also showed the ability to finish with either hand and this allowed her to score on bigger, more physical opponents. Adding strength will help take her game to another level.
2021 5’6 SG/PG Hailey Hiatt (Arlington HS) – Good shooter with some wiggle to her game. Hailey is not blazing quick, but she has enough shift and hesi to her game to get to her spots on the floor. Her basketball IQ is there, but she is more of a combo guard at 5’6.
