Eastern’s camp only hosted around two dozen campers, but a handful of them displayed the ability to shoot the ball at a high rate. Here are some of the best shooters I witnessed this morning, along with a quick breakdown of their mechanics.
Top Shooters:
2021 5’5 G Julianna Walker (Annie Wright) – The highest three point shooting percentage I saw between drills and live competition. She can really fill it up from behind the three line. Her mechanics are unorthodox, shooting it almost one handed off her right shoulder, but she has a way of getting clean looks and knocking it down, which is the most important thing in the end.
2021 5’6 PG Ashlyn Wallace (Clarkston HS) – Definitely one of the best shooters in the event and can knock down the three ball off the bounce or in catch and shoot situations. Ashlyn is a lefty shooter with a tad lower release, but displays consistent results!
2021 5’8 SG Linsey Lorovich (Peninsula HS) – This rising junior had some of the better shot mechanics at the camp. Her follow through was mostly consistent and she got her elbow to the rim before the release. A good catch and shoot shooter.
2021 5’8 SG Delaney Pink (Chiawana HS) – Delaney is a great shooter when her feet are set and she knocked down multiple long distance shots with a hand in her face. Some of her shots fell short, but all of her misses were straight.
2021 5’6 SG Hailey Hiatt (Arlington HS) – Skilled shooter, most comfortable off the bounce. She can get the ball into her shooting pocket off a variety of moves coming from either hand. She releases the ball slightly from the left side of her face, but when her follow through goes straight, she connects at a pretty solid rate.
2022 5’10 SF Mckenna Reggear (Colville HS) – Most comfortable in catch and shoot situations and she can knock them down with some space. Mckenna is automatically a threat from the three line when she steps onto the floor. Her follow through is also consistently straight to the basket.
