So here is our Grassroots Player Of The Year, Honorable Mentions for the senior class:
Player Of The Year
Gabrielle Elliott Gabrielle Elliott 5'11" | SF Detroit Edison | 2020 State MI (2020, 5’11”, Wing, Detroit Edison, Michigan Storm)
Elliott is one of the top wing prospects, and overall players, in the country. Over grassroots season, she did nothing but solidify herself as an elite 5 star prospect. Elliott is a silky smooth athlete that’s a terror for opponents when she’s in the open floor. At the UAA Session 2, she led Michigan Storm to a 5-0 record. Elliott averaged 26.2ppg in the session. She was top 10 in the UAA in scoring, assists, and rebounds. Elliott has narrowed her final college choices to Clemson, Marquette, Maryland, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, and North Carolina,
Honorable Mention
Makailah Griggs-Ziegler (2020, 6’1″, PF, Wayne Memorial, 1Nation)
Griggs-Ziegler is probably the strongeat and most physical player in Michigan. She’s a clear cut high major division 1 college basketball player. Griggs-Ziegler helped her 1Nation squad finish 15th out of 36 teams in the UAA. She finds bodies to box oit on every shot and is undervalued as a pure athlete.
Whitney Sollom Whitney Sollom 6'4" | PF Hartland | 2020 State MI (2020, 6’4″, F/C, Hartland, Michigan Mystics )
Sollom recently committed to the University of Michigan. With the Michigan Mystics , she showed why she’s considered a top post prospect nationwide. Sollom is a versatile defender, having the ability to guard almost every position. She is an excellent rebounder that uses strong hands to secure the ball. Sollom is a true 3 level scorer and showed an improved jumper with 3 point range this summer.
Shaulana Wagner Shaulana Wagner 5'10" | CG Detroit Edison | 2020 State MI (2020, 5’9″, SG, Detroit Edison, Michigan Crossover)
Wagner is as tough and as gritty as any player in Michigan. She simply battles on the court. She turned heads all spring and summer with Michigan Crossover. Wagner is an elite defender with a well rounded offensive game. She’s a 3 level scorer with a nice floater from the lane.
