I am not going to take the time to touch on every single one of them, but I did want to point out ten young ladies who stood out to me with their play throughout the day. These aren’t necessarily the most talented individuals, but they were noteworthy.
Teegan Acres, 2023, 5-10 F, Hamilton Southeastern H.S.
I was able to see Teegan multiple times throughout the Spring & Summer, and I honestly thought yesterday was my most productive viewing of her because she displayed a lot more tools in this showcase setting. She is a solid athlete, especially when she’s attacking the basket, she has some length, and she always plays with a great motor. She’s tough-nosed, physical, and a willing rebounder, but I was more interested in watching her handle and her jump-shot than anything yesterday. While there is still some work to be done, she is much more advanced skillfully than I thought based on her grassroots play. She is currently a really nice combo forward, and I think she will eventually transition to more of a true wing position.
Savanna Bischoff, 2023, 5-8 G, Roncalli H.S.
Savanna is just the next in a line of what seems like 17 Bischoff sisters. I highlighted her earlier this grassroots season, and she continued her strong play yesterday. She is a long, wiry strong, fairly athletic-in-all-directions guard prospect. I don’t know that she really has a specific position at the moment, but she has enough of a balanced skillset that I can see her becoming either a 2-guard or more of a traditional point guard prospect long-term. She has a solid handle that can be a little tighter, but you aren’t just going to take it from her. She is a good perimeter shooter as well, but I think she’s a more determined driver than maybe Madelyn is. Savanna is possibly still growing, and she could get a lot of opportunity early at Roncalli.
Rashunda Jones, 2023, 5-6 G, South Bend Washington H.S.
Rashunda is a long and very athletic combo guard prospect. She uses her length very well, and she has some bounce to her as well. She plays with her head up and sees the floor, but she will throw some contested passes at times. I do think she’s destined to be more of a true point guard long-term, but she will need to play more efficiently. I thought she aggressively exploded through the lane, she finished around the basket, and compared to many of the smaller girls in attendance, her size and length really affected the other guards at the defensive end of the floor. I think she has a lot of upside, she’ll just need to continue developing that skillset and play with a little more sense of urgency every possession.
Avery Kelley, 2024, 5-5 PG, Evansville Reitz Memorial H.S.
If there was one thing that stood out about Avery, it’s that she looked like the Energizer Bunny out there flying around all over the floor. She plays at one speed…fast. She was extremely quick and quick with the ball through the skills competition, and she is gritty & feisty. She has a solid handle, and she can go by defenders and really make plays in transition. Her shooting stroke looked solid, but she’ll need to get stronger to make the 3-pointer more consistent. The biggest thing for her, though, will be to understand changing speeds better, and to be able to play against set defense instead of just making plays in transition or off the attack. She has talent, skill, and energy though for sure.
Ellery Minch, 2024, 6-1 W, Mount Vernon H.S. (Fortville)
Ellery was probably the most intriguing 2024 prospect in attendance from a sheer recruiting standpoint. She is extremely long, tall for her age/position, and she looks like she still might grow another couple of inches. She moves fluidly around the floor, and she has good all-around skill & instincts, and she is not a post. She handles it like a point forward, she can create for herself or others, but she also has the ability to knock down an open rhythm jumper. She could stand to play lower to the ground, but that is likely a strength issue at this age. However, as she finishes growing, considering her height and skillset already, she could be a tremendously well-recruited prospect.
Macy Oberlin, 2024, 5-11 F, Angola H.S.
Angola has gone several years with a nice group of talent coming through, and Macy looks like the next in that line. She is an extremely long, wiry strong combo forward who looks like she is transitioning from more of an interior position to the wing. She moves very well/fluidly around the floor, she has good hands, quick feet, and she even has a little bounce to her as well. She is probably most comfortable in the mid-post right now, as she can hit the 15-footer or attack the basket, but she’s also willing to be physical and play some inside, plus she can come outside and defend several perimeter players as well. As she continues to develop her handle and 3-point shot, I look for her to be a full-time wing in the next year.
Jordyn Poole, 2024, 5-3 PG, Fort Wayne R. Nelson Snider H.S.
Jordyn is already gaining a reputation in Northeast Indiana as a top prospect in that area of the state. She is a long-for-her-size point guard, she’s quick-on-quick, and she has good North/South speed. She’ll need to get stronger, but she has some toughness, she doesn’t mind physicality, and she’s an incredibly feisty defensive player who can be elite when she commits to that end of the floor. Offensively, she has a quick handle, she can go either direction, and she creates separation off the dribble fairly easily because of her water-bug quickness. Her jumper can use some consistency around the perimeter, but she’s good at 1-dribble and 2-dribble pull-ups, and she can finish inside. We’ll likely be hearing a lot from her in the coming years.
Kyndra Sheets, 2024, 5-5 PG, Columbia City H.S.
Kyndra seems like your typical Indiana point guard. She is strong for her size/strong for her age, she’s extremely tough-nosed, she has a nice feel for the position, and she has a good handle and appreciation for taking care of the basketball. Offensively, she can manage a team and run offense efficiently, she can find open teammates, but she can also drive it strong to the basket. She’s a solid perimeter shooter, and she even had a nice hop-back ‘3’ in one scrimmage game yesterday. She will need to continue working on her speed and lateral quickness, especially defensively, but she is a skillful prospect with a high basketball IQ, and she’ll likely be one of the better point guard prospects throughout her career in this 2024 class.
Reagan Wilson, 2024, 5-5 G, Noblesville H.S.
Reagan was pointed out to me later in the day, and she is a really nice physical talent. At her height, she has good length, wiry strength, she’s quick/fast, but she’s also very bouncy and athletic in all directions. She plays with a tremendous motor, she is almost too unselfish at times, and I think eventually she’ll develop into a true point guard. She already handles it some and can drive it to the rim straight-line. She’ll need to work on her left a bit, but she is almost too athletic for her peers to contain when she does attack. Defensively, she is willing to be physical and rebound, plus she can defend multiple positions effectively. I think as her skillset continues to develop, she’s a kid who will get better each season.
Kira Reynolds, 2025, 6-1 F, South Bend Washington H.S.
Having talented sisters in Mila (2022) and Amiyah (2023) highly ranked on our respective rankings lists, Kira will almost certainly be one of the top 2025 prospects once we get to that class in a couple of years. She already has great height for her age, but she’s also incredibly long, fluidly athletic, and very skillful. She can handle the ball a little in transition, she can attack the basket off the bounce, and she’s a capable passer. She’s highly productive in the mid-post, and her 15-footer is solid right now. I think she’s a kid who can likely be an extremely tall wing by the time she gets to high school, because she is already on her way skillfully, and she looks like she still might grow 2-3 more inches over the next couple of years. Her upside is tremendous, but moving forward, I would like to see her play with a greater sense of urgency every possession…a typical thought about many younger prospects.
