Her natural athletic ability combined with effort and timing to make her one of the top overall players in the state as well as a phenomenal rebounder.
Shelby Calhoun, Christian Academy-Louisville – Another one of the top prospects in the state, Calhoun averaged 11.2 rebounds per game, an especially impressive average considering her position as a guard. Her nose for the ball, especially at her position, is outstanding.
Sydney Clark, Elizabethtown – A tenacious player inside, Clark seemed to always be around the action, particularly on the defensive end. This helped lead to an average of 8.7 rebounds per game. Her high motor and physicality make her a constant threat on the boards.
Morgan Bradley, Ashland Blazer – Bradley was a consistently strong rebounder last season, with 5 or more rebounds in all but 2 games. Her 8.0 average per game reflects consistent totals around that number. If she can augment this with a few more explosive totals, like the 20 rebounds she had against Paintsville, she can cement her status among the state’s best rebounders.
Maddie Scherr, Ryle – Perhaps the best all-around player in the state, it’s no surprise that Scherr makes this list. While the Ryle star may not average quite as many rebounds per game as others on this list, her 7.2 boards per game are still a big part of an extremely well-rounded game. She also came up big when it counted, including 13 rebounds in the state championship game.
