I’m adding more guards from the #SECgirls19 and I’ll be backtracking to other events I personally covered as I redo my fall list but here we go
Kelliah “KJ” WalkerKelliah Walker-5’7 G Drive Nation 16U/Randle-Jet (Keller Timber-Creek HS) KJ is on her way because one thing I stress over and over is progression. Once a player that showed promise in elementary, I promise she’s developed into a legitimate D1 prospect because of a variety of things, like creating her shot and consistently hitting it as well as her poise and court presence, something you can’t teach
Laila McCleod-5’10 G Drive Nation 16U EYBL (Mansfield Legacy) big guard that can shoot doesn’t even sum it up. She creates under pressure and takes defenders off the dribble, she always showed that but finishing with contact as well as her catch and shoot has elevated her game
Rakia Lee-5’7 G Lady Thunder (Rudder HS) high energy on both ends, loves to defend baseline to baseline and playing the passing lane to a tee all are definite strong points. Her first step gives her options because she can get by defenders with ease and by seeing the floor, she can hit teammates, take the pull-up or take it all the way
Desiree WootenDesiree Wooten-5’7 G DFW Elite 16U EYBL (Mansfield Timberview HS) explosive scorer that can change momentum of a game at the blink of an eye. Long range, mid-range, it doesn’t matter plus she attacks relentlessly from every angle imaginable. Handles the ball well, sees the floor and defends but she also is very vocal on the court
Halle Rhodes-5’10 G Pro Skills 16U EYBL (Bedford HS) one more time, college coaches love big guards that can shoot and she has not only good range but loves having the ball in the clutch and delivers. More than just a spot up shooter, she sets the defense up nicely to get her shot off and as a bonus, she also rebounds on both ends
Sunni DavisSunni Davis-5’6 SG Pro Skills 16U National (Saginaw HS) athletic guard that attacks basket powerfully and defends the same way. Good instincts, she understands the importance of playing the passing lane because with her speed, it’s a lay-up waiting to happen. She also knows how to create her shot, showed me that in elementary school and her pull-up works nicely in transition because that stop and pop is hard to handle
Kyla Deck-5’8 SG Pro Skills 16U EYBL (Lone Star) I love using the search bars on my Girlz Prep Report website and blog just to see how well did I call these kids early and this is what I said 4 years ago “I wrote “package” down for Kyla Deck, she showed me enough the first two minutes to know she would be a TIP SHEET LOCK and of course, she showed me early she would be next on DECK to play at the next level, sister Mia is a freshman at the University of New Orleans and Kyla is one of those “never takes a play off” type of player as she battles, defends, rebounds, is a vocal leader and understands a very important thing, she finds ways to put the ball in the basket
