Two other 2020’s have recently given verbal commitments in the last week and more players have received their first offers. Here’s the latest news from Prep Girls Hoops!
Jordyn Jenkins Top 5:
Oklahoma, Duke, USC, Cal and UW are still in the running for the power forward. We have already reported the dates of the visits, but local Washington fans are anxiously waiting for her announcement coming this Fall. In our poll posted to the PGHWashington twitter account, almost 3/4 of voters expect her to land in the Pac-12, but it remains to be seen!
2020 Guard Commitment:
5’8 G Lucy Young has announced her commitment to Coach Heidi VanDerveer and UC San Diego. The standout at Inglemoor High School put together a solid high school season and Spring and Summer with FOH Seattle. Lucy is a strong guard with solid athleticism and ball skills. Lucy also held an offer from Division 2, Central Washington University.
2020 Wing Commitment:
One of the top wing scorers in the state announced her commitment to Eastern Washington University. 6’0 small forward Maisie Burnham announced she will be “staying home to fly with the Eags” of EWU. Burnham had been a top target of Eastern Washington for some time and they felt she could be a game changer for them in the Big Sky. After a solid showing at adidas Nationals, Maisie went ahead and gave the hometown team a commitment.
2020 PG Has Three Visits Lined Up:
5’7 point guard Dayla Ballena reportedly has three visits in the works of being scheduled. UC Santa Barbara, New Mexico and Northern Colorado are three of the schools involved with one of the state’s top remaining point guards. I will be sure to give updates as they become available.
2021 PG Picks up Two Offers:
5’5 PG Esmeralda Morales of Bethel High School picked up offers from Portland State and San Jose State in between live periods. The scoring guard lit it up on the Nike Circuit and certainly helped solidify herself as a Division 1 recruit.
I anticipate a busy August and September with such a loaded 2020 class in Washington. Be on the lookout for further recruitment updates are things transpire!
