Week one, we started by attending the Cal Sparks event at Mater Dei, in Santa Ana, California. Great event put on by Elbert Kinnebrew and his crew at Cal Sparks. Week two, we attended the West Coast Premier event in Rancho Cucamonga, California, Brain Crichlow does a great job of putting together some talent from the Riverside area. Here are some girls we evaluated at those events as well as some more others. We have to recycle these reports, to help assist with some of these girls and recruiting.
2020, Alyssa Marin – Is able to drive baseline and finish with a reverse layup and also showed her nice touch from the three point line. Alyssa was also honored as we research her as a Top Area Player in the Valley. Runs the point guard position as well scoring as the shooting guard, she is very skilled. (Plays for Troop West Black)
2020 – 6’2, C, Etiwanda HS, Destiny Okonkwo – Destiny showed us this weekend that she is the best rebounder in the gym, she is relentless and will run you over to get a rebound. Not much of a scorer as of yet, but she the undisputed best rebounder on her team and in the gym this past weekend. (Plays for Cal Stars Valley Elite)
2020 – 6’2, PF, Chaminade HS, Alexis Whitfield – Showed she is what they call today, a Point-Forward which means she is capable of running the point guard position pretty efficiently for her high school team and club team. She was very effective when she did so, was able to attack off the dribble and finish with either hand, drive and kick to the open shooters and was able to knock downt the long ball for her team. She was dominant in every game I saw her in this season. (Plays for Cal Storm Team Taurasi)
2020, 5’10, SG, La Jolla Country Day HS, Tehina PaoPao – Tehina is a walking bucket-getter, she is pretty much unstoppable if you are trying to guard her one-on-one. Her skillset is immaculate and she can score on you in so many ways, it is tough to keep her contained. She shoots the three ball with consistency, her floater game in the paint is good as well, but she can also get to the basket and finish with any type of layup in the books. (Plays for San Diego Waves)
