One of my favorite things to do this month is make predictions for the upcoming HS season. With that being said, here are my 4A State Title Predictions:
Top Contenders:
Seton Catholic
Seton Catholic has a very deep team and a very young team at that. I this they have the pieces to make a very solid run in the playoffs. Their top 5 players are just as good as any other squad in the state: Lexi McNabb, Sasha Daniels, Isabella DiGiovanni, Amanda Barcello, and Annamarie Trojanovich. We will have to see how their youth holds up through the long season and how well they match up against my personal favorite to win 4A, Shadow Mountain.
Shadow Mountain
Shadow is my pick to win 4A. They didn’t really lose much after winning state last year. They still have one of the best point guards in the state, Senya Rabouin. They have a great big in Heavenly Greer and one of the most versatile players in the state in Dyamond Butler-Worley. When you add Sissy Paloma and Zhane Jordan as additional pieces, that team looks like the clear favorite to me.
Sahuaro
Sahuaro could potentially make a solid run in this year’s playoffs. I think they’ll dominate all regular season and won’t really be tested until playoff time, when they match up against teams like Seton or Shadow. Sahuaro’s two main pieces are very good and still young, Alyssa Brown and Alyssa Franke. I just think the other teams listed above are a little bit too deep for Sahuaro.
Sleeper:
Salpointe Catholic
I think Salpointe could shock some people. I really like Jaya Nelson’s game. I think she makes everyone on her team so much better. I wouldn’t be shocked if she could lead this team into a deep playoff run.
