One of my favorite things to do this month is make predictions for the upcoming HS season. With that being said, here are my 5A State Title Predictions:
Top Contenders:
Millennium
I really don’t see anyone contending with Millennium this year. They did lose a lot of talent but still have loads of talented players on their roster! Jasmine Singleton and Ali Zelaya are the star players on the team, while Tray Crisp provides a helping hand and has a lot of potential. They have a lot of talent and most importantly, they have senior leadership that knows what it takes to win a state title. I would be very shocked if Millennium did not hold up that trophy at the end of the season.
Sleeper:
Casteel
If anyone is going to compete with Millennium this season, I think it is going to be Casteel. They have a very deep team and could potentially make some noise. I don’t think any of their players are on the level of Zelaya and Singleton but this is a team game after all! Their forward trio of Liz Cruz, Hayley DiBona, and Devyn O’Brien makes up for a lot of size and athleticism. Their guard play is also very solid with Autymn Franks, Daeja Johnson, and Camilla Norton. If they can come together as a team and really buy into the goal, I think they could definitely compete.
