One of my favorite things to do this month is make predictions for the upcoming HS season. With that being said, here are my 6A State Title Predictions:
Top 3 Contenders:
Perry
Perry has a super well rounded team and have an electrifying guard duo with Taty Clayburne and Madison Connor. Additionally, Jayden James and Gabrielle Schwartz have proved that they can hold their own defensively quite well. I really think those two will cause headaches on the defensive end, while the duo of Clayburne and Connor will lead the way offensively.
Valley Vista
If Valley Vista had Jennah Isai fully healthy, I’d predict VV to win the title guaranteed. Unfortunately, she is injured and there is no set time for her to come back. Some predict mid-season while other people think she’ll come back for playoffs. Nevertheless, Valley Vista is good enough to win it even with the absence of Isai. Marisa Davis-Jones is one of the top players in the state, Madison Magee and Saniayh Neverson have really improved and make up one of the biggest and most skilled forward trios with Davis-Jones. They also have more than capable guard play without Isai, Serrena Gonzalez, Ava Ferraro, Sophie Martinez, and Mikalea Cooper are all more than good enough to hold down the fort!
Pinnacle
Pinnacle has a great guard-forward duo with Aly Stedman and Kennedy Basham. They don’t have the depth as much as VV or Perry do but Aly Stedman has shown that she can take over games and carry the load to victory. During Section 7, Pinnacle was without their star big and Stedman still led the team to multiple wins. Get them together back in full force and I think they can compete with anyone.
Sleeper:
Chaparral
Chaparral is my pick for a sleeper. I do not know their team super well but I do know their guard duo of Jess Finney and Anna Ostlie. Finney and Ostlie are an awesome guard duo, one of the top backcourt duos in the state. I think they will make up a lot of scoring together. I just don’t know the rest of their team well enough to call them a legit title contender, so for now…Finney and Ostlie have Chaparral as a sleeper in my book.
