In this article I will give you a glimpse into the future of the conference. I will try to give you some names to watch that have not been a critical part of the program so far, but could be this year and into the future.
Players that should contribute this year
- Rhylea Johnson is a 6’0 2022 forward from O’Fallon. Rhylea is a very versatile offensive player that will get minutes off the bench this year. She can step out and hit the mid range jumper and has excellent footwork inside. Rhylea has long arms and can use that to her advantage on the defensive end. She has great potential but will need to get much stronger to max out where she can go.
- Emma Garner is a 5’10 2022 wing from Edwardsville. Emma should provide some minutes off the bench for Coach Blade this year. She is a good shooter and can also score in the lane. Emma should provide a boost when she goes into the game. She is athletic and talented. Emma is a part of the outstanding 2022 class at Edwardsville that should make some noise over the next 3 years.
- Macy Silvey is a 5’9 2022 guard from Edwardsville. Macy comes from a long line of shooters in her family with two sisters playing college ball. So, it is no surprise that she can drill the 3 with great consistency. Macy had a very good summer. She was forced to play the point guard spot for her Blue Star team. She will not need that skill set often with Edwardsville this year but it may impress college coaches in her recruiting.
- Destiney Coleman is a 5’7 2022 guard from East St. Louis. Destiney is an excellent 3 point shooter. She has shown great growth in her game during the summer and is primed for a breakout year. Destiney has a scorers mentality and the work ethic to get the most of her talent.
- Jazzman Westly- Young is a 5’10 2022 wing from East St. Louis. Jazzman is a spark of energy and a relentless competitor. She brings aggressiveness and an excellent skill set to the team. She can put points on the scoreboard quickly and is always giving 110%.
- Cheyenne(Pip) Wilson is a 5’3 2022 point guard from Alton. “Pip” is very quick and an excellent defender. She will get up on you and defend you until you are uncomfortable. She is an excellent ball handler and is a very vocal leader. Pip is not afraid to lead. She shows the classic point guard skills that every coach likes.
There are too many players to mention them all. The talent coming in the 2023 class is strong and could have an impact at East St. Louis for sure. Belleville East and O’Fallon also have some strong players coming in as freshman. The talent keeps reloading in this conference so keep an eye out and prepare for exciting games in 2019-20.
