Continue ReadingIn the Rise Combine there were different aspects of the camp. Skill testing, scrimmage games and straight skill sessions. Mentioned in my summary article, I lead a portion of the skills session during part of the camp. Most of the time, during part of my session I defend the girls and attempt to throw challenging moves largely based on foot-work, ball-handling and finishing all with techniques I ask for during my explanation of the skill drill.
In all of my skills training, I am constantly analyzing and testing multiple skills at a time from the details to the obvious. I also test how well a player can be coached and their level of coachability through the drills I throw at the players. In addition, I throw various ideas and tips before, during and after to see who uses them and applies to the game. Of the close to 30 players in the camp, there were over 10 young ladies who stood out in the skills session. Check below to see featured players!
Zariah Tillman-Class of 2021
Richardson High School
Handles were on point and quick but also hard with good change of speed without having to ask for it.
Callie Cooper-Class of 2021
Richardson High School
All of her drill execution was pretty much perfect, and I did not have to repeat one time to her. One of the most coachable players at the camp hands down.
Jamia Harris-Class of 2022
Desoto High School
In front of the line each time for every drill but also performed and executed every task at a high rate. All movements were nice and crisp with superb fundamentals in the process
Samantha Ising-Class of 2022
Herbron High School
I through a lot of footwork moves at the girls and her attentiveness allowed her to step out and do the footwork move on the first try.
Tionna Herron-Class of 2022
Desoto High School
Very engaged during skill work and paid close attention to what I asked her to do. A few times she got mixed up but her determination to execute the move was one of the highest in the camp.
Bryana Block-Class of 2022
Pleasant Grove High School
Performed at a high rate for all moves as well as being coachable! Quality over quantity hit for this player, because she would quickly try again and once she had the move, she had it!
Kayla Cooper-Class of 2022
Plano East High School
Noticed her attentiveness in the line as I explained drills but loved how well she executed on the court from my explanation of exactly what I was looking for. All skills on point with clean handles and move execution.
Jiya Perry-Class of 2022
Desoto High School
Also, at the front of each line every single time, hands down gave me everything I was expecting in skill work and attentive during instruction.
Kelis Grant-Class of 2023
Cedar Hill High School
Noticed her build and how solid she was while doing her moves. Rarely fumbled the ball but if did, the recovery was nice!
McKenzie Askew-Class of 2023
Memorial Frisco High School
Modest in herself but during skill work did moves very well and coachable on spot during moves.
